Idris Elba recently launched a record label “7Wallace” and has already signed his first artist, James BKS.
Elba is no stranger to the music industry. The “Thor” star has released multiple extended play records such as “High Class Problems Vol. 1” and singles like “Please Be True.” Elba has also DJ’ed for big events like the NBA All-Star parties at The Venetian and produced music for artists like K.Michelle.
As the London bred actor jumps behind the scenes, he hopes to wow music lovers with his first artist James BKS. James, who has worked with many respected artists in the industry including Diddy and Talib Kweli, also made music for Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Armani ads. “James is a rare find, his hip-hop sensibilities transfer to the other music he makes, he’s a nice person to work with and is gonna be a strong artist in the future. It’s a huge move for 7Wallace, a small indie label,” Elba told Billboard.
James will release his new single “Kwlele” through Elba’s label on July 13. “I want people to get to know my journey. The song is the musical answer to my inner questions. Finally, I can be proud of my roots and say this music is fully me,” James said in a statement.
