Fans hoping to see more Braxton sister drama unfold on this season of “Braxton Family Values” will be sorely disappointed in this news: the sisters and their mother have refused to film following contractual disputes.
Sources told TMZ Wednesday, June 27 that the WeTV show is on an indefinite hiatus after sisters Tamar, Toni, Towanda, Trina and mom Evelyn Braxton failed to show up to the Atlanta set to shoot last week. However, when only Traci Braxton arrived, the women’s lifestyle and entertainment network shut things down and sent the crew home.
Insiders informed the celebrity gossip website that the Braxtons are refusing to tape the second half of season 6 until they get paid what they feel they’re worth. The women plan not to return until WeTV and production company Magical Elves renegotiate their contracts for the next part of the season.
The midseason finale of “Braxton Family Values” aired in May.
At the center of the Braxtons’ issues are too low salaries and laughably low travel and wardrobe stipends. The family hopes to get their salaries upped to an “appropriate” level.
None of the Braxtons have acknowledged the alleged dispute on social media and WeTV didn’t give TMZ a comment on the matter while Magical Elves has yet to respond to a comment request from the site. However, sources familiar with the situation say the family’s contract for the show runs through season 9.
Meanwhile, fans have been sounding off on the rumored development.
“Where Tony gon get them checks from now tho? Cause Birdman…….”
“WEtv must be dumb af to let the Braxtons walk out over $. Toni’s getting married to Birdman, and Tamar’s getting the divorce of the century — I’ll be so mad if they don’t film this! #BFV #BraxtonFamilyValues.”
“Imma say this once and once only @WEtv YOU BETTER BRING BACK @BraxtonFamilyValues !!!!!!!!!!!!! Run all The Braxton’s their money. @tonibraxton @EvelynBraxton @TraciBraxton @towandabraxton @TrinaBraxton @TamarBraxtonHer #CutThemChecks #BringBackBraxtonThursday #WeTV #MyShow.”
