‘It’s Very Touching’ Georgia Boy Stops Traffic to Help Elderly Stranger Up the Stairs In Random Act of Kindness

An 8-year-old boy in Milledgeville, Ga. is being praised for his random act of kindness toward an elderly woman he spotted crossing the road.

Witness Riley Duncan filmed the moment he saw Maurice Adams Jr. hop out of his mother’s car, stop traffic and help the woman ascend a short flight of stairs. Duncan said he felt such a moment deserved to be shared, so he sent the footage to local station WSB-TV.

Adams was in the car with his mom and sister at the time as they were headed home from a graduation, the station reported. That’s when the family spotted the woman crossing the busy road alone — a sight that prompted the young boy to spring into action.

“He asked, ‘Can I go out there and help her up the steps?’ ” Adams’ mother, Contricia Hill, said.

Before she knew it, Hill said her son was outside helping the elderly woman, taking her by the arm and assisting her as she took each step. Once they reached the top, the woman gave Adams a great big hug and the two parted ways.

“She told him that he’s special,” Hill said of the unnamed woman.

The proud mother said she had no idea the moment was being filmed, but said it was great seeing her son’s act of kindness on the internet.

“It’s touching. It’s very touching,” she told WSB-TV. “(It just shows) respect and raising your kids right goes a long way.”
