Folks Aren’t Buying Towanda Braxton’s Explanation for Toni Braxton’s New Look

Toni Braxton sent shockwaves through her fandom when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram two weeks ago. But while fans speculated she got another nose job, Braxton’s sister says the “Sex and Cigarettes” singer’s Lupus is to blame.

“Toni has Lupus,” Towanda Braxton tells TMZ Tuesday, May 29. “So when you’re on Lupus, you take steroids. And the steroids … it fluctuates your weight. Sometimes she has to be on steroids, sometimes she has to be off of steroids, so it fluctuates her weight.”

Towanda added that her older sister’s inflammatory autoimmune disease would make any plastic surgery difficult, as she “can’t have anything foreign in her body.” That means synthetic fillers like Botox are not an option, as they can make her ill.

“I think people should do their research,” she says of fan assumptions that their fav went under the knife. “They should research different diseases. Because Lupus is no joke. It’s almost like having the flu 24 hours a day, all the time — the worst flu that you’ve had in your life … She’s 50 years old so she looks amazing. People just can’t understand how she’s 50 and she looks so amazing without surgery and some 20-year-olds don’t.”

Still, commenters weren’t buying Braxton’s explanation.

“But her nose though has been through some things…. And I’m not just talking about this picture.”

“Errr, steroids make you GAIN weight, lots of weight and look puffy…not thin. Next…..”
