Drunk Driver with Previous DWIs Kills Young Texas Mother In Head-on Collision

A family received devastating news after learning their daughter, who was a new mother of a 9-month-old baby, was killed by an intoxicated man driving on the wrong side of the interstate.

23-year-old Amberly McCray of Grand Prairie was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after an SUV collided with her vehicle head-on.

Guillermo Suarez, 31, was driving while drunk into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 in Duncanville, Texas Sunday afternoon, WFAA-TV reported. He sideswiped one vehicle and hit McCray’s car, sending it into an 18-wheeler truck.

Suarez was caught on video by driver Roberto Salas, going into the wrong direction and after striking multiple vehicles his truck burst into flames.

Suarez is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and under Dallas County sheriff’s custody. He’s being charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and driving while intoxicated, according to the Dallas County Jail.

The convict also has a previous DWI offense on his record along with a long criminal history according to Dallas Morning News. He’s been in and out of jail since 2004 for charges including evading arrest, aggravated assault, drugs and weapons possession, WFAA reported.

Amberly McCray’s family remains in disbelief and severe mourning over the tragedy. They sent a message to those who choose to get behind the wheel intoxicated, to get help.

McCray’s relatives told the news outlet that “Suarez is going to feel” every emotion that their family has experienced upon losing their family member.
