As Mo’Nique’s ongoing conflict with Netflix continues to keep her in the news, she’s just celebrated a personal milestone.
The comedian announced on Instagram Thursday, March 29 that she weighs less than 200 pounds for the first time in over three decades.
“Today was the first time in my adult life that I’ve been under 200 pounds,” she says. “So I wanna let y’all know it’s possible. We can do it and we can get there.”
She added that she achieved her goal without the help of surgery or pre-packaged foods.
“It was just putting in the work and not giving up on me,” she says.
At 50, Mo’Nique relied on eating what she called “raw food” and danced as part of her exercise routine, which she included in the post. The “Almost Christmas” star also shared an image of her current weight of 198.4 pounds.
The star has not been quiet about her journey as she’s regularly shared videos of her dancing it out with celebrity trainer Dwight Holt Jr., who counts Amber Riley as one of his “Dance Your Pounds Off” clients.
In response to Mo’Nique hitting her goal weight, many of her followers have been congratulating her.
“Get it, Mo’Nique!!! You look wonderful and got the moves,” someone commented. “Keep Mo’Tivating.”
“You go Mo!” said another. “Girl, look at your collarbone and shoulder bone Girrrrl! So proud! So inspired!”
“I don’t always agree with your methods and words,” someone commented, likely referring to Mo’Nique’s beef with Netflix over equal pay, “but I am proud of you and am motivated by your success!”
