While many fans would love to see Idris Elba step into the role of James Bond, his fiancée may not be as giddy about the idea.
Sabrina Dhowre, who became engaged to the British actor in February, told UK’s The Sun that she fears more time away to become the first Black 007 would mean he definitely won’t do his share of housework.
“He supports gender equality but we don’t always share all the chores at home because he works so much,” she said Monday, March 12. “I can’t imagine what it would be like being married to the next James Bond but I’d imagine he’d be ten times as busy as he is now. I didn’t realize how busy he was. But we both do what we can. He’s the perfect guy.”
And while Elba may be perfect, one Twitter user said based on Dhowre’s statement about her man being Bond, “she might not be the one fam.”
“That’s dumb. That hundreds of millions of dollars he gets will probably cover the housework,” someone else said.
“What? Girl, don’t stop di man’s progress!” said another person.
But Dhowre may not have anything to worry about. Despite constant calls for Elba to take on the iconic role, he told BuzzFeed last year it probably won’t happen.
“I think not,” he said at the Toronto International Film Festival. “But you really need to ask the producers. Like I can just, [mimics picking up phone] ‘Hey, I’m gonna play Bond next! No, it’s Idris. Hello?’ No one wants it.”
