An Asheville Fraternal of Police lodge was sprayed across with the message “Black Lives Matter” early Monday morning.
The incident comes weeks after a video surfaced of a former officer, Christopher Hickman beating a Black man accused of jaywalking in August.
The building was not only reportedly vandalized, the wires from the security cameras were cut out, the windows of the FOP van were smashed out, and the American Flag was turned upside down reported WLOS.

The camera footage despite its damage, shows a white suspect wearing a hoodie while tagging the lodge around 4 a.m. according to KTVQ.
The president of the Asheville Fraternal Order of Police, Rondell Lance, told WSPA that he was extremely upset by the vandalism because he has condemned the video of Hickman beating the Black male accused of jaywalking. Lance also doesn’t believe the tagging was done by an activist of Asheville’s BLM group, but someone trying to cause division in the community.
Hickman was arrested and charged with assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious injury, and communicating threats to victim Johnnie Jermaine Rush, according to the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office.
People took to Twitter to express their thoughts about the vandalism.
Now y’all know that the police did this to their own building. Next. https://t.co/pX6goyT2Kf

Not even a chance any black men/women would go near a police building to do this. This community fears for their lives around police (& rightfully so). Some white-stable-genius clearly had a “great idea” to twist up the base. 🤦🏻♀️ https://t.co/a7dV9iFC42

Honestly what black person would take the time to lower the flag, take it off, turn it upside down, put it back on, and hoist it up again?

Only white folks would graffiti the letters this poorly tbh

Never met a graffiti artist who brought their own ladder or was so careful to avoid too much ‘type’ tracking on the windows.
And frankly, 👀 I don’t know any black person who trusts law enforcement enough to invest the amount of time & audacity it would have taken to do this.
The vandal even had time to bring his chair. To the police lodge. Where he was engaging in shenanigans, knowing police were nearby. He's just so hardcore.
