A Virginia father is trying a new method of discipline. Instead of driving his son to school after he was kicked off the school bus for bullying, the father is making his son run to school.
Bryan Thornhill, recorded a video of his 10-year-old son Hayden Thornhill running outside in the rain. The youngster was banned from riding the bus for three days and his father is making sure his son understands the no “bullying” policy.
“Hey everyone, welcome to you better listen to your Dad 2018,” he says jokingly.
“My son has finally got in trouble on the bus enough to where he was kicked off the bus for three days because he was being a little bully which I do not tolerate, can’t stand… Therefore, he has to now run to school, we’re right about one mile from the school so all week he’s got the experience of running.”
The Facebook live video has gone viral with over 1.6 million views as of Tuesday (Mar. 6) and Bryan admits that Hayden’s behavior has drastically improved since using “old school” parenting which he claims is a healthy way of chastising a child.
“We’re gonna make sure that one way or another his teachers are gonna be able to enjoy his company at school, he’s not disrupting his classmates and everything else… Teach your kids, don’t be a friend, be a parent. That’s what children need these days”, he exclaims in the Facebook video.
The disciplinarian father has received positive feedback from many social media users online.
Bryan wrote a Facebook post in response to the praise he’s been receiving.
“News media is a great tool. Love to see something positive come from it. Hoping that all this will give inspiration around the world… Our children are our future. Being a parent is a choice. Make sure you show your children you love them with hugs and discipline. Parenting isn’t always about being a friend its about leading them into the future.”
