After Wendy Williams printed up some missing person posters for rapper Nicki Minaj, there is now some information about why she’s vanished from social media.
And it’s not because she’s pregnant.
The New York MC is focusing all of her efforts on making new music and sources told TMZ she feels a lot more creative without distractions from Instagram and Twitter. Minaj hasn’t been active on the platforms since Dec. 30 and Dec. 26 respectively but she has dropped some new music here and there before entering 2018.
Her last single was a feature on A$AP Ferg’s “Plain Jane Remix.”
This year, however, TMZ reports Minaj is readying a “masterpiece” new album. To make it, she’s been spending late nights in the studio with Young Money Entertainment founders Lil Wayne and Mack Maine.
And don’t expect Minaj to come back online until the record is complete.
Apparently, some tracks have already been completed and “every song is going to be a hit.”
“I think the real music lovers just wanna be surprised,” she told Paper magazine in the November cover story of her fourth album. “And all they care about is if I’ve grown as an artist and if they’re gonna be able to truly relate…I really don’t have much to say about the album other than it’s great and I’m excited about it.”
At the top of the year, Media Takeout reported that Minaj had found out she was expecting a baby over Thanksgiving and claimed then-boyfriend Nas was the father. The talk led fans to believe that was the reason for her online disappearance.
On the Monday, Feb. 12 episode of “The Wendy Williams Show,” the talk show host printed up missing person posters for the rapper.
“She really is missing,” Williams said. “She hasn’t been spotted since December, everyone. … People are starting to worry, to help find her … We’re gonna fan out. We’ve done a lot of fanning out here.”
