Fresh off her divorce moving forward late last year, Mel B is feeling herself. So much so that she posted a picture of her taut abs in a bra and panties on Instagram. But many have zeroed in on her lighter hue and accused her of skin bleaching.
“Yes this is my spice shrine😜,” she wrote in the caption Wednesday, Jan. 31. “Yes, I’m in a bikini🦄. Yes, I’m 42😝and yes all my bling.”
The image is in stark contrast to other bikini-clad photos of the ex-Spice Girl on a Hawaiian family vacation in October. Yet photos and video posted throughout January show Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, with darker skin.

As a result, fans have been stunned by her lighter skin tone, with accusations flying about her lightening her complexion.
“You really bleached your skin,” one comment read. “Black is beautiful. You played yourself.”
“Wtf – have you really bleached your skin?” someone remarked. “Why would you do that when you have mixed children?”
“Self-hating,” one person commented. “Why would you make yourself look white smh?”
Yet others didn’t believe the “America’s Got Talent” judge chemically lightened her skin.
“She hasn’t bleached her skin it’s just the lighting, sake guys, you blind,” someone said.
Another person speculated editing was the culprit.
“Is this airbrushed? Looking very light lol”
“Omg Mel doesn’t bleach her f—— skin!!!!!!” another posted flat out.
And according to Mel B herself, she just needs to spend some time in the sun.
