Family, friends and colleagues are mourning the loss of Atlanta news anchor Amanda Davis, who passed away after suffering a massive spontaneous stroke earlier this week.

Davis, who’s been a staple in the Atlanta TV news circuit for the last 30 years, was on her way to her stepfather’s funeral Tuesday, Dec. 26, when she fell ill at the Hartsfield-Jackson Int’l Airport before being rushed to the hospital for treatment. She passed late Wednesday night, according to CBS46, where she served as morning news anchor.

Davis’ family has since asked for privacy during this difficult time as they prepare to bury another loved one. The prayers and condolences poured in overnight as fellow journalists, friends and residents of the Greater Atlanta Area came together to remember the veteran news anchor.

Davis was just 62 years old.
