A new report suggests Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has caused a divide among his teammates, but he still has the support of defensive end Michael Bennett.

Bennett took issue with the ESPN piece he deemed “gossip” that claims Wilson has been a “divisive figure” since he began as starting QB.

“Defensive players would see [Wilson] in executives’ offices and wonder, ‘Why not me?'” the report claimed. “Pettiness grew. In 2014, Bleacher Report reported that some Black teammates think Wilson isn’t Black enough.”

The article also claimed Wilson, who went public with being celibate with then-girlfriend Ciara, isn’t as open as he seems, requiring guests to sign non-disclosure agreements before watching a Seattle Mariners game in his box.

Cornerback Richard Sherman also was a subject of the piece, which claimed he blames Wilson and coach Pete Carroll for the team not winning multiple Super Bowls and painted him as angry for speaking his mind.

“According to witnesses, Sherman threw the ball back to Wilson and yelled, ‘You f—ing suck!’ Another fight broke out. Sherman was cussing and yelling; Wilson seemed stunned,” ESPN reported of a rumored altercation during a June 2014 practice. “Pete Carroll stopped practice and would later hold a series of meetings to remind the players they needed to build each other up, not tear each other down — and that they needed to support their quarterback, further pissing off a defense that already thought the head coach went out of his way to protect him.”

Sherman dismissed the rumors while speaking to SirusXM NFL Radio Thursday.
