Mo’Nique Responds to Adrienne Houghton After Talk Show Host Slams Her for ‘Keeping It Real’

Mo’Nique isn’t too worried about “The Real” co-host Adrienne Houghton comments concerning the comic’s diss of Oprah, Lee Daniels and Tyler Perry, chalking it up to her youth.

Mo’Nique landed in hot water on Mother’s Day weekend when she went on a profanity-laden tirade against the Black Hollywood heavyweights, which she further explained on her podcast and TMZ this week.

“No, I was not blackballed,” she said at the Apollo Theater May 13. “I was whiteballed by some Black d—- who had no balls. Thank you, Mr. Lee Daniels. Thank you, Mr. Tyler Perry. Thank you, Ms. Oprah Winfrey. No, baby, I wasn’t blackballed. I was f—— up by some n—— who had no balls. And see, I know they like to say, ‘Mo’Nique, you talk too motherf—— much.’ It would kill me not to say the real s—.”

Houghton took issue with Mo’Nique’s ongoing discussion of Oprah, Daniels and Perry.

“Now, I have an issue with people thinking that every time someone is loud or boisterous or saying something negative, that that’s them ‘keeping it real,'” Houghton says on “The Real” Monday, May 22. “Why does it always have to be that, just because you all over the place being loud and making a lot of noise, that that’s the truth and that’s ‘real’? Why can’t keeping it real be classy? Why can’t keeping it real be, ‘Let me hold my peace and let me move on?’ Why can’t keeping it real be, ‘You know what? They may have done that, but I’m going to respect that and move forward.’ Why can’t that be keeping it real?”

Rather than firing back at the former 3LW singer, Mo’Nique, 49, brushed off Houghton, 33, due to her youth. The comic expressed interest in coming on “The Real” to discuss the matter directly, with her husband, Sidney Hicks in tow.
