5 Unethical Experiments That Used Black People As Guinea Pigs

For centuries, Black people have been used as guinea pigs to further scientific and medical research.

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study is still one of the most notorious cases for its prolonged and knowing violation of human subjects. The study used poor, illiterate Blacks who were infected with syphilis to document the progression of the disease. The major ethical issue of this experiment was the fact that the participants were not given the newly emerged standard treatment, penicillin, nor were they even informed that it existed.

The Tuskegee Syphillis Study is only one of 5 unethical experiments highlighted in this Atlanta Black Star original.
