Never one to shy away from racial politics, Gabrielle Union urged her 3.3 million Twitter followers to be upfront about their racial biases.

It’s not clear what spurred Union to share her message Saturday, March 25, but she stated it was important for people to recognize their role in the systemic racism that limits opportunities for Black people.

Union also retweeted a reply she agreed with.

The actress’s weekend tweets earned hundreds and thousands of retweets and likes, and some applauded the actress for speaking about racial bias.

Union spurred a mostly agreeable dialogue among Twitter users.

Things took a turn when some felt offended by Union’s message and disagreed over the source of racial bias.
