Steve Harvey Goes to Bat for Trump, Calls on Snoop and Bow Wow to ‘Respect the Office’

Steve Harvey is once again voicing support for President Donald Trump by denouncing the way Snoop Dogg satirized the Commander-in-Chief in a music video.

Snoop landed in the center of controversy last week when he released the “Lavender” video featuring him firing a toy gun at a clown version of Trump. The clip led Trump to tweet that Snoop should serve jail time for the parody.

“I’m certain that Snoop doesn’t pose a real threat at all,” Harvey said on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” Friday, March 17. “Where we have to be smart about this, young brothers and the people who are the truth tellers is the way that they will bend it and twist it. Here’s the problem, if something happens, do you get brought in as the copy cat version, the reason that spurred action? ‘Cause there’s some idiot that’s sitting at his house that’s willing to carry this out. … You don’t want to be tied to that.”

Harvey explained Snoop has the right to express his art in any way that he chooses but cautioned the rapper to “respect the office.”

“The problem with all this that there is an office in this country called the ‘president,’ and you have to respect the office. You really do. Whether you want to or not. You have to respect the office. They got laws…I would hate for anything to come down.”

Harvey told Snoop’s defenders to “be smart with what you say” and directed his attention to Shad Moss, also known as Bow Wow. Moss drew outrage after he tweeted Donald Trump not to mess with Snoop and threatened to “pimp” First Lady Melania Trump.

“You start messing around with this man’s wife — who ain’t in this at all,” Harvey said after noting the West Virgina official who was fired for saying Michelle Obama was an “ape in heels.” “The hell that come down with messing with these people’s family is great, man. Y’all got to be smart now. Because they got other ways of getting to you. … They can find something.

“Leave the first lady out of this,” Harvey added. “Y’all going down another path with these cats now. You start messing with they wives … I’ll tell y’all, you going down another path.”
