Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina read aloud hyper-critical tweets from Twitter users to point out how the left is just as intolerant as the right is accused of being.
After endorsing newly confirmed Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the sole Black Republican senator revealed that he has been besieged by numerous tweets calling him a “House Negro,” “traitor” to his race, and the n-word on multiple occasions. Scott read some of the tweets he has received on the Senate floor Wednesday, Feb. 8.
“The liberal left that speaks and desires for all of us to be tolerant do not want to be tolerant of anyone that disagrees with where they are coming from,” he says.
Scott’s speech served as a counter to Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Senate Democrats use of Coretta Scott King’s 1986 letter to discredit Sessions. “The definition of tolerance isn’t that ALL Americans experience a high-level of tolerance, but all Americans that agree with THEM experience this so-called tolerance.”
