On the Aug. 9 edition of NBC’s “Nightly News with Lester Holt,” gymnast Simone Biles talks about her incredible journey in the latest profile about her life.
Biles’ mother suffered from drug addition, and Simone was in foster care at the age of 3 with her younger sister in Ohio. Her grandparents heard about their grandchildren’s plight and adopted them.
The two moved to Houston, where they have stayed since. At the age of 6, Biles started in gymnastics and never looked back.
The 19-year-old has four more chances to win gold, and if she does, Biles will break records.
