Christina Millian and KeKe Palmer are two of the latest celebrities who have drawn massive backlash for tweeting “All Lives Matter.” The singers shared the phrase in posts following the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police. It is seen by many in the Black community as a way to diminish the value of Black lives in America, shown using #BlackLivesMatter.
Millian set off a firestorm when she tweeted for everyone to “come together” with #AllLivesMatter.
She followed it up with another post containing the phrase.
All lives Matter. We gotta uplift each other. Embrace and find ways to obey the laws of God & not resort to violence. Stop letting fear take

Then sent a #BlackLivesMatter tweet.
The lead & free your mind. We can be so much better. And we are! But that's a CHOICE for you to make. #BlackLivesMatter

She later deleted the initial tweet and posted out two apology messages later that next day. One blamed her lack of being “up to date with the hashtags.” Millian said she stood by #BlackLivesMatter.
I must not be up to date with the hashtags. And more for praying & conversation. There's no debate here. #BlackLivesMatter I stand by that.

But the messages came too late.
Twitter ripped into the singer-actress. Maya Elious assumed Millian was not to be trusted based on her failed relationship with Lil Wayne.

And @Dahlia_pdf lost attraction to the reality star.
I saw that Christina Milian tweeted all lives matter….. No longer cute to me

Millian attempted damage control that morning, continuing to believe she did nothing wrong.
No kidding. I didn't say anything wrong. Let's be clear. https://t.co/pCqR22ZGR9

She maintained she did not mean to discredit Black Lives Matter, either.
Some may. Some don't. I have no reason to discredit it. I'm a Black Latina. This effects me & my family too. https://t.co/rWN1buMSNK

Similarly, Palmer would not back down from supporting #AllLivesMatter. Last week on the day of the Dallas Shooting, the former BET talk show host responded to a user who asked her about her feelings on #AllLivesMatter.
The star’s views led to a massive attack online, causing her to defend her claims.
Palmer welcomed J. to disagree with her
And called jada “the bully” for pointing out what Black Lives Matter means.
She also stated she doesn’t “just cry for Black people” but cries “for people.”
The posts – which have since been deleted – led Juwan to call the star an “industry puppet.”

Ashleigh Bullock was unsurprised by Palmer’s stance.

User @emma_fRhost2 deemed Palmer “irrelevant.”
Keke Palmer said "All Lives Matter" she's now irrelevant
