Activist Schools Entire Lot of Fox Talking Heads With This Powerful Lesson on America’s History

On last night’s edition of “All in with Chris Hayes,” Heather McGhee, president of Demos Action, discussed the recent killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in the wake of the Dallas shooting that claimed five police officers’ lives.

In the clip, McGhee says Black people and the nation are capable of grieving for the two Black men killed by police and the five Dallas police officers.

“While you’re grieving at your cousin’s funeral saying ‘my cousin’s life mattered’ and someone else comes up and says ‘hey what about my uncle who is sick,’ that is actually not that relevant,” she points out. “Since the founding of this nation, my ancestors were not people, they were property. That is how our economy was built, that was how our democracy was built.”
