Today, Baltimore police officer Caesar Goodson Jr. was acquitted on all seven charges against him, including second-degree depraved heart murder, in the in-custody death of Baltimore Black man Freddie Gray last year.
The police van driver joins officers William Porter and Edward Nero as the latest of the six officers charged in Gray’s death to be found not guilty.
Reuters reports that Goodson faced other charges such as three counts of manslaughter, reckless endangerment, second-degree assault and misconduct in office. His defense team argued that Goodson had no training to determine if Gray was seriously injured or not.
According to CNN, Judge Barry Williams handed down the verdict in the bench trial this morning.
