T.I. Expresses Grief Over Deadly Concert Shooting, Police Release Footage of Rapper Troy Ave Firing Gun

The New York Police Department released surveillance footage today of the Wednesday-night shooting at rapper T.I.‘s concert in Irving Plaza.

Rapper Troy Ave is front and center in the footage. Viewers can see him firing his gun inside the third-floor green room. The New York Daily News reports that Roland Collins, also known as Troy Ave, of Brownsville, accidentally shot himself in the leg.

The rapper was arrested at NYU’s Langone hospital today for the shooting. Collins is charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The rapper’s longtime friend and alleged bodyguard, 33-year old Ronald (Edgar) McPhatter was shot in the stomach amid the chaos. He later died at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital.

Security at the venue has yet to determine how Collins got the handgun past metal detectors.

T.I., who remained quiet immediately following the deadly shooting, has since posted a heartfelt tweet expressing his grief and offering condolences.
