11-Year-Old CEO of Me & The Bees Mikaila Ulmer Steals the Show at We Day 2016

An 11-year-old Black entrepreneur gained national attention after her Me & The Bees lemonade was picked up by Whole Foods in March.

Atlanta Black Star reported that the young entrepreneur, Mikaila Ulmer, gained $60,000 for her BeeSweet Lemonade company from an appearance on ABC’s Shark Tank.

She got the recipe from her grandmother and began using honey to replace sugar. This move is healthier and more environmentally friendly, said Mikaila, who is from Austin, Texas. Her Me & The Bees lemonade will also replenish the devastated bee population in her community.

On April 20, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella brought the social entrepreneur and CEO on stage at We Day 2016 in Seattle.

The We Day program inspires young people to change their community through a variety of avenues like business and activism.
