After inviting the crowd to sing along to “Purple Rain,” Hudson took her place among her cast mates as Cynthia Erivo started the song. The crowd enthusiastically sang along and Hudson later joined in. Toward the end, she asked for the music to stop for the song to continue to be sung a capella.
