Marvel’s Luke Cage will continue the company’s commitment to keeping their comic adaptations close to the source material. However, for this series, that might be a bad thing. Luke Cage’s background is hackneyed and overdone.

He grew up in Harlem and made quick money committing petty crimes. He eventually got caught and went to jail, where he was experimented on and reformed into a “good guy.” People may not know that Luke Cage was inspired by the Blaxploitation films from the 1970s and the series may try to keep that same spirit. It would be cool, however, to see a new dimension added to his background. The series has started shooting with Ray Donovan co-executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker serving as executive producer and showrunner.
