  1. Gary Portier says:

My question is why didn't Blacks ask POB for Reparations, they has 7 years. Hillary not going to give it to you either ask her.

  2. Bruce Waynne says:

No one will give it to us. Not now…maybe never.

  3. Deb Lashever says:

Bernie is our best chance for actual justice–bt far.

  4. Arayah Gabar says:

Blackplan.org is OUR answer for reparations! The Freedmans Bureau has already been established it only needs to be reinstated. Blackplan.org sing the petition ya'll before Obama is out of here!

  5. CHECK OUT THE CONSTUITION 14 AMENDMENT GOGGLE IT THE TREATMENT AFTER SLAVERY WAS AGAINST THE CONSTUTION THE RIGHTS TO PROPERTY WAS DENIED BY BANKS IN CERTAIN AREA WHICH TOOK GOVERMENT MONEY AND THE SERGATION OF BLACK AGAINST THE CONSTUITION AS WHILE THAT WOULD BE KIIDNAPP BECAUSE YOU ARE HOLDING PEOPLE SOME WERE WITH OUT YOUR WILL. REPARATION FOR SLAVERY IS ONE BUT THE ACTS TODAY ARE AS WELL THE POLICE MAKING SURE YOU SAY IN YOUR KIDNAP AREA THE UNFAIR JUSDIARY SYSTEM AS WELL DRUGS WHITE PEOPLE ARE FOUND WITH A TON OF COCAIN GET PROBATION BLACK MAN GET CAUGHT WITH A PINCH OF COCAIN AND FLOUR AND BAKESODA MIX GET A MADTORY SENTENCE OF 30 YEARS TO LIFE UNCONSTUITIONAL BLACK PEOPLE COULD READ THERE RIGHT THEN BUT YOU CAN READ NOW WE NEED TO STAND UP FOR THAT AND THE EDUCATION THAT WE GET IN BLACK NEIGHBOR HOODS NO BOOKS NO RUNING WATER ARE TEACHER ON MONDAY AND FRIDAYS LOOK AT THAT REPARARTION FOR WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY YESTERDAY IS GONE WHAT YOU GOING TO
    DO ABOUT TODAY

  6. At the end of the day who will get these reparations and what would they be? Where will these 40 acres and a mule come from if that was what was given? A monetary sum and what would that be? Just asking for a thing and not knowing what said thing should be just devalues the premise of why we need said thing.

  7. BS. What he's talking about has been tried over the years. Reparations is more than money. Just look at what other less suffering groups have been able to do the reparations they were rewarded. Have their own schools, curriculum, language (remember years ago with Bill Cosby about ebonics, he didn't get it then either), history, relationship healing, restorative justice amongst a plethora of other repair-ing issues.

  8. Oh come on now Black folks! This country & it's population WILL NEVER even consider you worthy of discussion in regards to ANY issue. You are unseen & unheard. And obviously this is what you get when you're politically & economically handicapped.

  9. Why do this generation or the past generation warrant's reperation? I can understand our great grand parents and their parents, they are the ones that had to endure water cannons, cross burning on their front lawns, their churches being burnt to the ground, the women and their daughters getting raped and no justice being served, men and their sons being murdered and no justice being served and they had to endure dogs chewing on them when they try to get an education. They paved the road for what the black community has morphed into today. Our little kids are having kids, the school attendence among blacks has dropped dramatically, there are more blacks in the prison system than any other race combined, mothers are giving up their roles as mothers just to hang out with their kids, fathers abandoning their role as a providers, protectors, nurturers, teachers and pilars in our own communities there is more blacks dependent on some kind of substance hat made them forgot who they are. Now we have demonsrations when one of our mothers, fathers or children is killed by an officer of the law but no march is formed when there is countless amount of black on black crime. If black lives matter so much why are we killing our selves? With that being said, nothing is wrong, in my opinion, with what Bernie Sanders said.

  10. It is way cheaper to offer justice than reparations and we're even refused justice. We can not get justice in ANY of their courts but you still believe they'll give you some sort of compensation? The majority in this country don't even like the idea of you/us receiving unemployment. Yawl dwell on that!

  11. Dude you must be a troll…..go over to fox to get a like.

  12. I kinda liked bernie..i wonder if he knows jewish person still get reperations and how does he feel about that?…just curious..smh

  13. Any black person born in the USA before the 1964 Civil Rights Act needs to be paid.

  14. Oh, sure, reparations for black people he doesn't suport. But I'm sure he's all for reparations for his own Jewish people. I never heard him say we should stop sending billions and billions to Israel for WWII reparations.

  15. Ormond Ashby says:

Wake up family, we will have to do for self then never forget. Sunay while we are down on our knees in church we could ask Jesus, we ask him for everthing else.

  16. Mel Wats says:

Reparations means "to repair" for the damages done to you, weather directly or indirectly. Of all groups "domestically" wrong by the, U.S. Black folks have yet to be compensated for the economic and "generational" damage. Japanese from internment camps get money, Holocaust survivors (which the U.S. supported), 18th money for the American Indian (establish from The 1866 Peace Treaties), RISE job/business training for Russians immigrants, Homestead Act for poor White immigrants/citizens. These groups used this support to help their families. Who's to say what Black families in the 1700's wouldn't have done the same (hell, they did it despite that, and business communities were still attack by Whites)? This is about the economic opportunity that was taken away, and the potentiality of "generational support" that would've been there, had the "domestic terrorism" not taken place.

Black people are only non-immigrants, so consider that….

  17. Education, investments , rebuilding cities have nothing to do with reparations. Those are rights for ALL AMERICANS, the enslavement and oppression of Black people harmed one group of people specifically and that was Black Americans. The centuries of economic disenfranchisement and psychological damage cannot be repaired by creating jobs that Black people do not get, housing that we cannot own. I disagree with Senator Sanders on this but still believe he'll be a better President for the best interest of Black Americans than his opponents and President Obama has for Black people.

  18. M Scott Johnson I dont have the educational backround you have so I dont understand why you would post a comment so juvenile. Or are those credetials you have posted on your Facebook page just for show. Your probably a black man that has benefit from the road our ancestors paved for you and I. If you read and understood my post you would understand the point I am trying to make. My point is as time goes by, the black community is giving up the fight for equality except a select few. The majority of the black youth have no ambitions to acheive what their ancestor have acheived with far less programs. The main role players in equality is either past away or to old. So no, no one of this era is entittled to any money that came from the blood of our ancestors. And since everyone is entittled to there opinion, respect mine

  19. Yet they made it illegal for us to LEAVE FOR AFRICA at least twice. Once after the Civil War and once to help Ethiopia keep the Italian the ugs out of their homeland liken the Kandake Queens of ancient once did. They even kept us from leaving the south to farm up north in states like Connecticut. Chew on that one. Outwardly we're unseen but in smaller pockets in the govt we are a terrifying issue.

  20. First, many of you may need to understand eaxctly how our people were damaged by this white representative US Government and it's descendants? Was it jobs, school's, and etc., that we were deprived of? No. And, really what would you expect coming from a descendant of the defendant nation? In a court of law, would one expect a defendant in a case, speak on on behalf of the side to whom they injured? Unlikely. Furthermore, from your own common experiences, would not you seek recovery from injuries suffered by you and/or your family members, from a defendant in a car or bus accident? Sure, well in principle we're talking about the same thing. Many black people are not aware in way which our people have been damaged by white representative US Gov't. Also, before you flat out give up the fight (one that has not been fought, yet can not be avoided) it might be a good thing to get a real good understanding on Reparations and the method in which it is fought. You may find there is a strong possibility to success. Bernie works for white people, remember that.

  21. Arthur Murray Are you aware in what way black people in the country and their descendants still held in this country, been damaged by the gross institution of US forced slavery?

  22. Reparations is not a civil rights matter alone.

  23. Dhoruba Asadi Please enlighten me, because I was taught that life is what you make of it. Look, I can always use the system as a cop-out when I cause misfortune to myself. If I refuse to accept an education then I must eccept low paying jobs, if i elect not to work and want fast money via selling drugs, then I must accept incarceration if caught. Just a couple of examples of how I could have been (damaged by the gross institution of US forced slavery.)

  24. Dean Green says:

IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING EFFECTIVE ABOUT IT (THE CONDITION OF BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICANS)—AND NOT JUST TALK AND SQUAWK OR BLAME AND COMPLAIN—INBOX ME. HIT ME UP THERE—NOT HERE. AGAIN, THERE—NOT HERE.

And what are you gonna do about it–the condition of black/African American people? If you’re like most black/African Americans, the answer is “zip, nada, nothing”. Most prefer squawk and talk or blame and complain on Facebook and otherwise (comparable to the below lions whimpering when they could easily have that dog for lunch) and many prefer to “wake up” or “teach” others when they should wake up to the fact and learn the fact that action to do the right things to solve the problems is what is needed—not just talk—which is what they provide in abundance. Consequently, their efforts are largely ineffective.

“Most black people get angry when they hear the truth…most black people have no intention of doing anything about the negative realities that we see around us…None at all”—Jason Black

IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING EFFECTIVE ABOUT IT (THE CONDITION OF BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICANS)—AND NOT JUST TALK AND SQUAWK OR BLAME AND COMPLAIN—INBOX ME. HIT ME UP THERE—NOT HERE. AGAIN, THERE—NOT HERE.

  25. Freddy Alvin says:

African American Homeland, The Secret to Political, Economic and Government Powers are control of State/States Governments and all It's Institutions.
North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee are the 8 States I proclaimed the African American Homeland. A place where Black Americans could live in peace and prosperity.
The African American Homeland States isn't an Independent nation, but a Regional bloc of States with a mission to promote Political, Economic and Security Cooperation between the 8 States and with no more or less rights than any other State in the United States of America.
With a land area of 375,000 square miles and population of 45,300,000, the racial make up of the region are 80% Black Americans, 15% White, 3% non black Hispanic and 2% Asian and others.
All 8 Governors are Black Americans, 16 Senators are Black Americans and 61 Congressman are Black Americans. Most of the State Legislatures, Judges, State Officials and State Government Workers are Black Americans.
African Americans control the three branches of State government, Executive branch , Legislature branch and State Supreme Court, and control two of the three levels of government State and Local. Only the federal government will be out of our sphere of control. However, the Federal government has been more fair and just. Most Jim Crow and Separations laws were State and local laws.
Control of a State grant African Americans US Constitutional Powers to, Make and Enforce Laws, Taxation, Eminent Domain, Control of State Budgets, Charter Corporations, Banks, Charity Organizations. The State Charters Cities, Counties and Courts.. Controls State and Local Courts, Control State Public Schools, Control State Universities, Control State and Local Police Departments. The State Regulates all businesses and regulates most Land within it's boundary.
All State Universities in the Region such as North Carolina U, Clemson, Georgia Tech. Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana State U, U of Arkansas and Tennessee are predominately Black Americans. Private Universities must conform to the demographic make-up of the State.
80% of the Farm land and forest land is owned by Black American
Formation Of Regional, State and Local Black owned Banks with 2.5 trillion dollars in asset.
Utilities, Natural Monopolies, Critical Infrastructures are State Owned Enterprise (SOE) or sold to African American investors or Black Own Corporations
An African American Stock Exchange with a capitalization of 1 trillion dollars headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia to assist Black owned corporation to buy up white owned corporate assets in the region.
There’s a regional equivalent to Freddy Mac for Home Mortgages.
White owned large corporation will dominate the African American Homeland, but laws, policies, regulations and others will be put in place to help Black American Owned Corporations and Businesses to compete.
80% of all businesses in the 8 State Southern Region are Black American owned and they will received 80% of all State and Local government contracts.
Whites, Asians and Hispanics who comply with our State Laws are encouraged to live among us or integrate with Black Americans in peace and prosperity.
Whites that want to leave will be given just compensation for their property.
To acquire power in the 8 State Southern Region, Super majority population is a requirement. To have a super majority population a modern day mass migration of 24 million Black Americans to the 8 southern States must take place.
The mass flooding of Black people into the 8 State Southern Region will cause the white population to mass migrate out of the region for fear of crimes, safety and lower property values.
The Great Migration North 1910-1970 was Unorganized & by Word of Mouth. With Social Media & modern transportation, The Great Reverse Migration to the 8 State Southern Region could be done in 6 years instead of 60 years.
Millions of Black Americans migrating North, Northeast, West, there were no military response. Moving from State to State is a basic US Constitutional Right.
It is much more practical and economical to migrate from any big city in the west, mid-west or northeast, then to ship or fly millions of people to West Africa or Angola.
Incentives for Black Americans to migrate South, include Wealth, Power, Prestige, land, farm land, housing, jobs, Business opportunities, leadership opportunities, favorable laws and others

  26. Yes we need reparations for our oppression as African Americans and Bamma,What I want as a Bamma is momet to relocate to another country.

  27. The Black president did not support Reparation.

  28. if barack obama as a black man can't even breathe his blackness around white folks on capital hill and speak our names, what the hell makes anyone think that bernie sanders, if elected, could score reparations? being totally realistic, it could never happen.

black people shouldn't be mad at him for being real.

  29. Japanese, American Indians and So called Jewish just received Reparations!
Slavery was (Free) Labor. It we always looked upon that way . Compassion on Moral
    Issue it will never be

  30. What Sanders is saying about a reparations bill passing in Congress right now is simply the truth. Rep. Conyers' bill to STUDY reparations hasn't been able to pass Congress for 20 years. Sanders isn't saying anything that isn't already obvious to us.

But watch the whole video. If you did, you'd know that Sanders is actually talking about forms of reparations that have been discussed in the Black community for years. Probably most notably by Dr. Charles Ogletree.

"Financial remedies such as the creation of business
funds to aid African Americans and broad-ranging educational, housing, and health care initiatives might overcome individual remedy difficulties and assist in combating racial inequality."

    http://www.law.harvard.edu/stud…/…/crcl/vol38_2/ogletree.pdf

  31. All those jobs he's talking about in the inner citiy will not be given to those who live in the inner city. So everything will still stay the same as it is. Jobs created by Enterprise Zones in the inner city still do not go to the inner city residents.

  32. Freddy, could you send me this post? Or did you cut and paste from the site you mentioned? Either way, please let me know.

  33. this article was poorly titled.

  34. Jane Eastwood That's very sad to hear from you. That we can not get reparations. How do you know that? Have you tried or even think it worth a try? And, what contract are you speaking of? My desire is to break one with the people and society which has, and still do hold our people against their will. To me, you sound hopeless and so willing to seal our children in a perpetual state as underlings in America. Thus, I am for expressing and exercising my and my people (INHERENT RIGHT TO SELF GOVERANCE). The fact still remains that our heritage was totally stripped from us. Our identity was forced removed along with our mother's tongue. I do admit to a great extent that we have to undergo somewhat of a ethnogensis (new beginning) wherein we are in need of defining our reallity based on our common experiences in the slavery diaspora. Peace.

  35. Vick McLean says:

I dont really see how we can have racial equality without reparations. I mean men and women labor went unpaid . We need African nations on board with this I dont see us getting it without outside pressure. We need to create a coalition of African and carribean nations who will put pressure on the U.S. If our demands are not met. Carribean nations have put pressure on the british government already we need to piggy back of that movement to gain momentum.

  36. Vick McLean says:

    Vick McLean · Chi??

  37. Vick McLean says:

Please do not write in all caps it fucking annoying and damn near blinds a person many people probably skip over that all caps shit and you probably made good points.Im just sayn

  38. Let Be real, If Blacks havent gotten reparations now. What makes you think it goin g to happen. We don't know how have community. I know some place have been burned down when blacek have tried before. damn that shit. If we don't to do some thing to band economically a race culture becomes exstint.Learn that game of money.Get out of your head the Willie lynch syndom about getting your in Heaven mess. Quit praying all the time without action taken your prayers dont mean shit with out action behind them.

  39. We can not get reparation, because we do not known who we are. Diving into our history will give us a chance to claim back what belong to us. Look into the Moors, a lot of who we are was destroyed in their bomb fire. Check out what you are giving your consent to, remember we stand under natural law (cause or do no harm). Any other law that we are forces to obey is by our consent, as a flesh and blood human being. Everything is rule by contract at this time. Do you understand?, that's a automatic contract.

This system is here to enslave us, nothing more and nothing less.

  40. right. they never ask about the billions of dollars going to israel. they never talk about reparations given to jews follwing ww1, 2and beyond. what about the reparations given to the japanese in ww 2? what about the award recently given to the iranian hostages under president carter? how come iran did not pay them? this is BS.

  41. Alan Kessle says:

wow, reparations were part of the agreement to end the civil war. this is not debateable. everything he spoke about is just a way to keep blacks from owning. give us what we earned…and for a jew to say no to reparations is funny…jews wanted reparations from germany and switzerland…and got them and still try to claim them.

  42. Black america is going to get reparations, so get your paperwork in order.

  43. Alan Kessle says:

like grandpuba maxwell said….they gave restitution to the japanese, they gave resitituion to the jews…over 400 years of slavery, rape and murder…I guess there's no restitution for the fools.

  44. Farntella Graham rite….see thru speech is thought r lack there of….jobs"create jobs"….everything is to benefit a agenda based on the thought of how sees fit…didn't here create more ownership of land are create more black business markets key markets and for someone to question the reason we are saying this is simple..every one else have got reparations for there "ills"..so why is the black mans ploy any different?….let me guess….it would be better to create more jobs for the poor

  45. Arthur Murray It's not uncommon for those who attempt to blame injury on the injured as justification to deny a wrong that they have commited, as you are staging in your comment. The correct term and way this should be viewed, is that the injured party is "charging, petitioning, demanding" of those who are responsible for the injury or injuries they caused, to be held responsible for it, and make just amends or repair.

In this case the injured party seeking recovery for such damages or injuries, is not (copping out) from some misfortune of their own making, but rather a misfortune caused by another. Here then, it is a matter of justice and morality. You are mixing apples and oranges.

Black people's experiences in America's system of slavery is not just some unfounded paranoia. No! We're talking actually facts. The institution of slavery set up by America, to buy and sell human beings is/was real. In that there is no doubt. America's denial and aviodance of this most heinous crime, does not negate the fact that it's a just cause to seek redress or recovery from her.

To do otherwise, then one would be a party to a wrongdoer escaping the responsibility of his or her wrong act against another. Speaking of a cop-out. Now, that can be no better example of it. Reparations to black people for the slavery diaspora is a just cause.

  46. Vick McLean Some of that is going on already. I agree unity is a key!

  47. Tim Black says:

In America, arguing for Slave Reparations is political suicide! If Bernie said "Give Black People Reparations!" 70% of America would look at him like he said "MAKE JANUARY 19TH KICK A PUPPY TO DEATH DAY!". AtlanticBlackStarr is for black people so much they willful want to soil the only candidate running who even remotely gives a damn about black people not based on talk, but based on actions. We must do better!

  48. Obama administration earmarks $12 million in reparations for Holocaust survivors in 2015. This is you alls so called "first black president" who has been worshipped by people of color as if he is god. A person who was raised by his Euro-American mother and grandparents.

There can be no doubt that the Jews of Europe suffered great hardship and genocide under the regime of Adolf Hitler and his allies during World War II. Nazi concentration camp survivors were able to settle throughout the world and eventually founded the nation of Israel. But the Holocaust survivors in this country are still suffering with an estimated 150,000 age 65+ living below the poverty line.

In response, the Obama administration last week approved $12 million in aid over the next five years to assist these survivors. This was part of an initiative backed by Vice President Joe Biden in 2013. Last year, the White House named Aviva Sufian as a special envoy for U.S. Holocaust survivor services.

Many European countries have paid victims of the Holocaust; at the top of the list is Germany, which paid over $90 billion in reparations. In 2012, Germany gave an estimated 80,000 survivors in other countries a one-time payment of $3,250.

This is not the first time America has paid restitution or reparations to the survivors of racial atrocities. In 1998, the United States pledged to pay $1.25 billion to Japanese-Americans and their heirs. That amount is in addition to the $1.65 billion previously paid out to 81,278 claimants.

But when it comes to the United States paying reparations to Blacks who suffered oppression and genocide, there is no money forthcoming. Taking aside the argument that descendants of former slaves of the United States are more than deserving of economic justice, what about the 20th century Black Holocaust? There are, in fact, incidents where many of the survivors are still living: http://www.rollingout.com

  49. Mel Wats says:

Roxanne Watson Not sure what you are asking or which part, but if you are asking if the reparations thing is true, then yes it is. They wanted to begin the "research" to investigate the idea of reparations, and he said no (by "he" I mean him and his operators). By sham of a term, I don't mean that he didn't try, I mean that he was very naive and didn't understand that he would likely have to sacrifice his life to get some real work done. All of what I said above is true. Maybe you're asking if I can "reference" my claims? That answer is also yes.

  50. Vick McLean Because I can't leagally bus a cap in your ass. These are the only caps i can use after 400 years of captivity along with slavery, jim crow, and lets not forget the separate but equal era. After our predecessors made these fucking barbaric animals $60 trillion and our only reward for that was a bullet just because we are walking the down the street.

  51. Can you post this claim.

  52. Here's my question: Why was Bernie the ONLY 2016 U.S.Presidential Candidate asked this?! Can u say, #ITSATRAP?! #BernieTsunami!!!

  53. So… I don't want to have stones thrown at me or anything, but wouldn't it be better — objectively — to have more consistent / better quality income (and, consequently, life) than simply a one-time sort of "pat on the head" gesture…?

I know it probably sounds a bit flippant, especially considering that I'm just "Curious White Dude #3857893", but it's an honest question. Like the idea of, um… "Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, and he can eat for the rest of his life", right?

I'm certainly not advocating for "just step aside and let the white people fix it", either, for Tue record, but I genuinely don't know what the right answer IS.

Some better (and different) insight beyond my own would be amazing.

  54. My idea for reparations to African Americans is to grant all African Americans tax exemption from all federal, and state taxes for life. Such that, any person who can prove they are descended from African Americans held in slavery will be eligible for exemption. This would be incentive for all qualified African Amercans to seek education, gainful employment, and professional careers. The humorous side would be to see all the White people who come out of the woodwork, claiming African American ancestry.

  55. What you are not hearing is that reparations, in this case, are nothing more than hush money. "Here, take this and shut up." Reparations will do nothing to change the laws and the police brutality. Bernie is right. Attack the head of the snake which is the Senate and House. Elect a Democratic House and Senate that will pass legislation to actually help the condition of the black community. Change in the criminal justice system is essential to improving the lives of black people. Making education free to all who want to go to college is essential to harnessing the talent and abilities of all our youth, not just the white priveliged.

  56. Roland VanHorn how you gone tell me what i'm "not hearing?"

    child, hush.

i'll address what i FEEL like addressing.

i'm not here to discuss whether or not reparations are vailid. i posted regarding people's REACTIONS to bernie.

    fuck outta here.

  57. Thank you for actually using common sense. I don't know why people are attacking Sanders for this when we already realistically knew what the answer was going to be. We've got a black man in office as we speak, and there was no chance in hell for reparations then, so why would there be any now?

A one-time check that would just be spent outside the black community is not worth anywhere close to true black wealth.

  58. Clyde Thomas says:

lets just keep marching and praying holding hands and hoping they feel sorry for us so they can hand out something we already earned. we will never be able to pass anything down to our decendants so we will always not have nothing just like your parents and their parents had nothing to pass down to you
YOU ALMOST HAD US FEELING THE BERN BUT WE SEE NOW ITS THE SAME BULL EVERYBODY CAN BE PAID BUT US ITS LIKE THAT NOW AND SEEMS LIKE IT WILL NEVER CHANGE

  59. Senator Bernie Sanders jumped into the Democratic Primaries because Billiary was unopposed and 'Unk' Joe Biden would have potential problems against the White-wing Republican juggernaut ! Now the Bernie The 'Burn' is leading amongst day dreaming moderate/neoliberal/progressive white folks [ good ole' white folks unemployment rate is below 5% ! ] and their dumb minions Amerikkkanized KneeGrowpeans [ 9.45 % or higher ! ] with a promise that he the 'Burn' give all the jobs we want if he's elected ! If you believe that …. then DJ Trump would be worthy of our vote for POTUS as well since he's good at making promises he'll never keep ! Don't worry about reparations : neither Bernie nor Trump is going take White folks money and give it to any Black man, woman, or child ……… Oh yes the US gov't gave Nazi holocaust survivors several Billion last year !!!!!!!!!!

  60. Justin Henry says:

Not voting for this guy just because he won't directly address black issues
