I'd like to believe that the attention capturing headline used for this 1:27 video was just that- sensationalism to grab the reader's attention. Mr. Lee's assertive response was not an "emotional rant." I sincerely hope the writer honestly knows the difference. How else should African-american people convey their overwhelming pain? Perhaps, some believe we should discuss the horrors of what has taken place and continues to take place in hushed tones while behaving wholly civil (as dictated by the global system) over tea and crumpets, while there is one atrocity after another and we are kept reeling and never able to heal.
Explain why you call this comment a rant! ! All I see and hear is an articulate man trying to respond to a stupid question from someone that doesn't have a clue about the BLACK EXPERIENCE IN THESE UNITED STATES! ! JUST SAYING
He was asked a question and gave a clear answer. I saw no rant. You just want a sugar coating.

This headline is demeaning and disrespectful of Spike Lee's "voice" in responding to an erroneous presumption of the part of the interviewer. Mr. Lee gives well-informed insight into the subject matter. He brings a perspective that is different from that of the interviewer. The emotional "empathy" that he brings to the table is often overlooked i.e. that of a parent who loses a child to gun violence and the pain of that loss. The phrase Emotional "Rant" is not an appropriate headline. Perhaps Emotional "empathy" might be a more appropriate headline since the interviewer did not seem to bring that to the table. Our "voices" must not be silenced, but heard and respected!
Chris said, "You PEOPLE (you people?) are protesting because A COP killed a Black man (what?)….BUUUT, young Black men kill young Black men 'ALL THE TIME' (not true) ….". Now, let me rephrase what should have been said by Chris, "White cops are killing young Black men "ALL THE TIME".
IT'S AMAZING HOW . . . DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU SAY AND WHO YOU SAY IT TOO . . . ANY CONVERSATION . . . NO MATTER HOW ELOQUENTLY SPOKEN . . . CAN BE CONSIDERED A 'RANT' OR MOST OFTEN BELIGERENCE' . . . WHEN ADDRESSING LAWENFOCEMENT . . . IF NOT CAUGHT ON CAMERA!
