One More Racist Loses Job For Boldly Tweeting ‘Our Inner Ni**er Came Out Today’ While Picking Cotton

Erika escalanteA Texas woman was left without a job this morning after her racist tweet went viral.

Over the weekend, the user @Eri82185 posted a picture on Twitter of herself and a friend picking cotton with the caption: “Our inner nigger came out today”.

Twitter users quickly identified the poster as Erika Escalante, a student at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, AZ. While many sent tweets to Escalante expressing their discontent, other users such as @XLNB, notified her employer about her offensive posts.

Hours later her employer, Isagenix, posted the following tweet:

The company also posted an extended statement on Facebook:

We are shocked and outraged by the actions of one of our interns this past weekend. Her actions and social media posts…

  1. DC Price says:

Extremely pleased. I don't know the company but will find out about them and do business with them.

  2. Should really be quoting their "cotton picking grandparents" – Miss Escalante you should need to find out about the "Wetback Migrants" you are decended from and what they endured. If you think you are exempt please think again. If you cannot fathom the idea ask Donald Trump about his plans for people with Mexican (Hispanic) Names. Please go (swim) back to your country of origin if you don't like your minority status here. Yours Truly, Mrs. Burrito Tamale.

  3. Another one bites the dust… due to stupidity. (Why, oh why haven't they learned that asinitiy tends to negate anonymity?)

  4. LaDeena Fuery Look at works at Strippers in the above post…

  5. Miss Naja says:

This is great! Too bad most of the racists with real power and infulence are too smart and far more strategic for such a juvinele display of hatred.

  6. So you're going to treat racism with racism… Classy.

  7. Mike Jones says:

It's morons like you who spread the misconception that Donald Trump plans to rid the country of immigrants, or in your words, "people with Mexican (Hispanic) names." Let me say it again to be clear. You are a moron. Trump, like any reasonable American, wishes to rid the country of ILLEGAL immigrants. Do you understand?? This means those in the country ILLEGALLY!! Firggin' idiot.

  8. Donald Trump omitted the use of the word "illegal."

  9. Darc Rispect says:

I don't know, I can't help but see it as a bad joke on the spur of the moment thing. Let go, well I understand from the companies point of view that they might not want the extra attention. It's just hard for me to see this as offensive.

  10. You have to be a fake account or seeking negative attention if you don't see anything offensive about this. Please call your grandma or anyone's grandma for clarity. If no one answers please go to the library asap before forming another sentence.

  11. Escalante, sounds spanish or something. By saying her inner nigger came out just shows she's admitting to being BLACK. LOL…

  12. Rebecca R. Garcia This is about "Realism". Ms Escalante is not in touch with the history of Mexican Migrants in this country. "Wetback , Illegal Alien, Show me your papers" are terms and tactics to keep even Educated Mexican Americans in their place. If Erika was aware of the racism that her grandparents had to endure, if she was aware of the 3rd class citizenship that they had to suffer under she would still be crying. If it wasn't for their tolerance to continue to stuggle under that yoke she would not be enjoying the benefits of living on this side of the border, getting a free education, running water & toilet paper. If she was aware of the obstacles that Ceasar Chavez fought and overcame for even basic rights for all Mexican agricultural workers to treated as human she would be faint with grief. If she took her head out of the princess cloud she would be addressing the racism that discontinued the Mexican American Studies programs in Arizona because the Board of Education thought it was racist towards them. This program took the graduation rate from less than 50 % to a whooping 98% in predominately Hispanic Schools. Remember that the powers that be are not going to allow your kids to outcompete their kids. It was actually against the law to teach certain segments of the population to read and write, once that law was struck down it became the norm to only provide the bare basic of a skeleton education. Ms Garcia I do apologize if you think my statement was bias, but please remember " don't start no fight that you cannot finish". Please take a dose of Realism today and address the problem(s) that is facing your people. Donald Trump told the well educated and qualified reporter to go back to "UNIVISON"……..

  13. Mike Jones the ad hominem really gives your post the air of authority. You've convinced me…

  14. Dt Givens says:

In what world did she think this was OK to post on social media? I guess her world…unbelievable.

  15. Paul Luckett says:

Her tweet was inexcusable. Period. But, I question how effective merely putting her on blast is. We need engagement to challenge and destroy such caustic ideology, not drive it further underground. If we discard her as worthless and irredeemable based on our perception of her, why should we expect to be treated any differently? "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King Jr.

  17. Mike Jones Donald Trump told the well educated and qualified reporter to go back to "UNIVISON", I dont think he was speaking of Los Angeles. Trump's Staff person told the man to go back to his own country….Was he talking of Dallas ????… Also, Mexicans make up 98% of the agricultural workers of this country. They are also heavily represented in the Meat processing, construction, cannery, custodial areas. Are Americans ready to assume these positions…………..Are you willing to reassume any of these positions College Boy ?!!!

  18. When you attack others orientation you assume your better than them. Stop It!

  20. Wow…. a Mexican using the N-word! The apocalpse is here.

  21. What does offend you?

  22. Really? God bless you

  23. I don't understand. How do we know that she is being racist? Maybe she was being honest. Maybe her man is black and she was expressing her 7 happiness about him not being inna.

  24. Who gives a shit OMG a racist tweet. First of all y'all tweeters sound stupid tweetin shit just the word tweet sounds dumb as fuck and black or white y'all are all retarded making such a big deal some people are racist get the fuck over it.

  25. LeRon Barton says:

Stop. Why do people that defend bigots always have to quote Martin Luther King Jr? She should be put on blast because she said a racial slur on social media. We don't need to engage in racists. This is a good way to deal with them.

  26. LeRon Barton says:

Darc you are just trolling, stop it.

  27. So, she was basically lynched…

  28. Kathy Thomas says:

I guess they didn't know what VIRAL meant.

  29. Yes, because getting fired for being a stupid and racist is exactly the same as getting murdered. *eye roll*

  30. Athena Gliddon Because making a joke about picking cotton is the same as enslaving black people. *full body roll*

  31. "Making a joke.." That wasn't a joke it was an insensitive racist remark. If she was lynched, then she lynched herself.

  32. Nicole A. Stewart I would hate to live in a world where we couldn't make insensitive racist remarks on our personal accounts without fear of losing our professional livelihood. Have fun in your thought policing utopia. I think that it is idiotic.

  33. Forest Star Walz was it her personal? Her company name is in the address.

  34. your just Stuck on Stupid

  35. Troy Johnson says:

Mike Jones You posted this… You are a moron. Trump, like any reasonable American, wishes to rid the country of ILLEGAL immigrants. Do you understand?? This means those in the country ILLEGALLY!! Firggin' idiot. Ummm you DO realize that the Constitution of the USA gives citizenship to ANYONE born in the USA?? Donald Trump said he will kick them out…. Who is the moron or idiot here? Me thinks it is you!

  36. Judge not lest ye be judged… Matt 7:1-3 What would Jesus do? Forgive,Teach, Uplift and Heal. I agree that usage of such a hate filled word has no place in any society. Such words need to be replaced with acts of kindness and love. In my opinion, as long as spiritual lessons are continually forgotten we will be forever doomed to live unharmoniously, intolerant and distrustful of one another. You are free to have your opinion, so am I.

  37. Daved Benefield you're*

  38. Brian Batie says:

Funny how those who quote Dr. King are the kind who celebrated his murder.

  39. Grey W Sturgill César Chávez. Caesar was a Roman Emperor long ago.

  40. Revé Fisher says:

Forest Star Walz This is basically social media for dummies. Making incredibly offensive comments on public forums, that could easily be passed to an employer, when your full name and employment information is readily available. That's just Career Darwinism

  41. Mike Jones says:

Troy Johnson No, I actually don't realize the Constitution give citizenship to anyone born in the USA – an neither do you. Just because those on the left say it like it's fact doesn't mean it's so.

  42. Mike Jones says:

Grey W Sturgill How about we treat illegal immigrants the way Mexico treats them. How would that be?

  43. Forest Star Walz The "joke" was not about picking cotton. Your inaccurate comment illustrates your inability to see racism.

  44. if we're going to get rid of illegal immigrants, lets start with the europeans. illegal ass people got the nerve like a mf.

  45. What is amazing is all the Black people coming to her defense on her Twitter page and if you check her Twitter page her apology is fake. She makes comments like "if you stop using the word maybe others will too" and "slavery happen donkey ages ago." I hope she never gets a decent job anywhere. It also amazes me that she knows absolutely nothing about the Mexican heritage she claims; if she is indeed Mexican her last name is a Spanish slave name.

  46. Sean Russell says:

The 14th Amendment makes all people born on US soil or US military institutions US citizens. That's not even middle school social studies.

  47. Sean Russell says:

Forest Star Walz You're more than welcome to make insensitive racial remarks on your social media accounts. But if whoever you work for isn't cool with that, they reserve the right to end your employment.

  48. Troy Johnson says:

Mike Jones I rest my case, you just proved my point…. because in fact .. IT IS FACT, not just liberal, or left, or Democrat… IT IS actually a fact…

  49. Dg Goodwin says:

Many internships are paid gigs AND it will never look good to not be able to use the company as a reference (even if she was not being paid) or even on the resume without having to explain her reasons for "leaving". She loses any way you look at it.

  50. Mike Jones says:

Troy Johnson Rest your case all you want, but you didn't prove crap other than that you're a liberal propagandist. I understand that liberals have nothing but propaganda, devisiveness and emotion to use, but go with it. The fourteenth amendment gave former slaves citizenship and equal protection after the Civil War. If I'm not mistaken, the Mexican constitution states that children born to Mexican parents, regardless of where the parents illegally reside, are citizens of Mexico. Illegal immigrants (or undocumented democrats) are Mexican citizens.

  51. Pam Hart says:

Mike Jones at least u admit that u dont know the Constitution people like u love to cite re rights etc..dwl dwl dwl dwl dwl dwl

  52. Mike Jones says:

Rebecca R. Garcia Blacks use the n-word all the time, but that's ok. 93% of blacks murdered are murdered by other blacks, but that doesn't matter to him either. Get this – blacks kill blacks and not a word about it. Someone white or hispanic utters the n-word and the world is coming to an end. As long as he can be a professional victim, that's all that matters.

  53. As much as you think that you intellectually put it to this girl, using the term "wetback" is as offensive to some as the "n word", and your are showing your ignorance to use it. Would you say the "n word? I think not.

  54. Uh maybe because she used the word "ni__er" – that would maybe be the first clue that it was racist

  55. And you are both proving his point… By perpetuating the cycle of racism, we are just staying on this merry go round. Someone makes summer perpetuates racist behaviour, they get found out, everyone goes nuts tearing them to shreds, then it blows over. Until someone else makes a mistake and there we go spinning around in circles again. No change is made. The reason why people go around quoting Dr King is because Dr King had it right. Fear perpetuates hate. Hate perpetuates the violence. Violence perpetrates the evil. I'm not saying I have all the answers. I'm just saying that I to believe more open and honest conversations need to be had on every level. We all have to stop pointing our fingers at other people and saying there the problem with society. I'm not defending this world by any means. She's a dumbass. She needs to suffer the consequences of her ignorant ignorant decisions. However, that's not going to stop anybody else from making the same mistake. Not going to change the ignorance in anyone's heart. I think that's where Mr Luckett and I want to get to. A point where people are truly shocked when situations like this happen because they don't happen routinely!

  56. Pretty terribel tweet. However, I don't know whats worse- her post or the stalking and tracking down that took place just so they could get her fired. What happens outside of work should remain just there- outside of work. She didn't deserve to get fired, even though what she posted is really offensive. If she was in blackface this very well might have been the most racist thing I've seen in a while but even with that said it doesn't reflect on how she performs in her position nor does it justify firing her. At most she should have been shamed, ostracized, and ridiculed for certain, but taking someone's livlihood away is a line I don't think needed to get crossed. If you take glee in her loosing her job that makes you no better than this racist idiot.

  57. You spellled juvenile wrong.

  58. Daved Benefield – It would be "you're", not "your".

  59. Bobbie McCrarey – You just called John Lennon and Yoko Ono racist… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woman_Is_the_Nigger_of_the_World

  60. If a black person had done the same thing, many on this thread would think it was fine, or perhaps even an intelligent cultural commentary. I propose to you that this is the most racist aspect of the entire fiasco – that you wouldn't care about it if the tweeter had been black.

  61. Do Black Lives Matter? No!

  62. Well, this black person is not defending her dumbass. What is so irritating is she looks like she's a foreigner and when you come hear displaying racis, it really pisses me off. I hope this follows her stupid ass for life. Judging from the smile on her face she didn't seem remorseful.

  63. Employees (and interns) actually represent the companies they work for. This girl can be walking around with company business cards or clothing claiming she's on the staff. The business owner has every right to know if the person he or she employes is an ignorant racist in public. Obviously this girl is, and she doesn't mind advertising it on social media.

  64. Why would anyone who is black person tweet the same thing? That tweet was not funny at all.

  65. Oh, I'm making a joke of punctuation.

  66. Daved Benefield I just got owned!

Wait, was that joke too soon?

  67. Valerie Hartsfield Of course the term 'wetback' is OFFENSIVE, as all racial slurs are. ALL OF THEM !!!…. However when the term is hurled back to the initial offender they seemed to be somewhat taken aback by the sting of the comment. If this girl cannot stand the pain don't start the fight. Ignorant was when she used the term and posted it on public media using her employee account. Ignorant was when she used a racial slur against a group when she is in a controversial group herself. She should look in the mirror and pronouce her last name. The fight, stuggle of the 60's was for CIVIL RIGHTS across the board. Racial, Ethnic, Religious, Sexual Orientation Slurs, Discrimination has no place in this society. Think twice or three times before you strike the first blow, the world is ruthless !!……

  68. Forest Star Walz you spelled <–that word wrong Level: DUMBASS

  69. Wow, well this is what happens when you have your JOB and SOCIAL MEDIA sites attached! Everyone is entitled to free speech, it's a right!

  70. Jayson Hodge says:

I don’t think she is raciest … I think she is very insensitive but not raciest. I would encourage her to watch an episode of Roots, the relative evil looming in that film could make a demon cry.

  71. Jayson Hodge says:

    She could use some perspective

  72. Paul Luckett says:

LeRon Barton My purpose was not to "defend bigots". My desire is to remove anything and everything that hinders my people from living and contributing to the betterment of the world.

I quote Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a strategist who had an approach that works.

We should aim to see everyone regarded with value, considered worth engaging and living with, even those whom we dislike or with whom we disagree. Setting aside the moral and ethical value of that position, it's practical value is that when you're fighting for the rights of everyone, you infinitely broadened the base of people you can recruit to fight for you. Am I saying we should not hold Ms. Escalante accountable for her execrable statement ? No. But I am saying that there was an opportunity to do much more here than merely getting someone fired.

  73. Russell Taylor LOLOL!!!!…..GOT'EM!!!!

  74. Tom Johnson says:

I've done this 10-15 times. Idiots posting their obscene bigoted bile with where they work or where they live get a call or post on Facebook to their bosses.

  75. Nice work Agent FSW of the thought police. Good to know you know exactly what people are thinking. Please return to your desk and review today's minority report.

  76. Malia Simone says:

No body in this day in age uses the word "nigger" unless they're racist and that slow girl knows it. She thought she was cute and thought she would get wawy with using a racial slur. Sorry not this time. Shows you how invincible they really think they are.

  77. Isa is great! They do nutrition and have some of the best food and suppliments around.

  78. Lydia Gibson says:

Paul Luckett The only way to make bigots KNOW their actions have consequences is to interfere with their livelihood.
