As the late Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, remains on life support, tensions have only gotten worse between her family and her long-time boyfriend Nick Gordon.
Reports have suggested that Gordon and Bobbi’s father, R&B star Bobby Brown, were at odds for quite some time, but Gordon took the tensions online on Saturday where he begged Brown to allow him to be by Bobbi’s side.
In a series of tweets, Gordon made it clear that he wanted to see his self-proclaimed “fiancee” but was not willing to meet certain conditions that Brown said were mandatory if he wanted access to his daughter’s bedside.
Brown has since responded to Gordon’s pleas to see his daughter through a team of lawyers.
“Let me be very clear, Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina and he declined to meet the terms of any possible visit,” Brown said in a public statement as a response to Gordon’s tweets. “Obviously Mr. Gordon is not as desperate to visit Bobbi Kristina as he wants the world to believe.”
Gordon responded to Brown’s statement with a statement of his own.
While he agreed that Brown did offer an opportunity for him to possibly see Bobbi, he says that the offer wasn’t reliable and had certain conditions that his legal team strongly suggested he stay away from.
“Per his own words, Mr. Brown has only ‘offered an opportunity to potentially meet with Bobbi Kristina’ if Nick were to meet certain conditions—conditions that we, his attorneys, have advised him not to meet, particularly in light of Mr. Brown’s inability to guarantee access,” the statement read. “But in an effort to do all he can to visit, Nick has repeatedly offered to meet with Mr. Brown privately to discuss his request in person, rather than through lawyers.”
The statement claimed that the R&B star rejected those offers and said that Gordon and his legal team “hope Mr. Brown has a change of heart.”
On Sunday, Brown continued the legal quarrel by explaining that all Gordon had to do was give a “tangible form” of an explanation of what happened leading up to Bobbi being discovered face down in the bathtub in her Roswell home.
“Due to Mr. Gordon’s failure to place in tangible form his understanding of the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina, there is no reason for any additional discussion with him,” Brown’s lawyer responded in another statement. “It appears that Mr. Gordon did not want his understanding of the facts to be subject to the truthful examination of various experts or Bobby Brown himself.”
Brown’s lawyers added that Gordon has the “right to remain silent” but said they are only “concerned with individuals that can help Bobbi Kristina and bring resolution” to the investigation.
It’s been about a month since police confirmed that they launched an investigation of the circumstances surrounding Bobbi’s drowning.
Reports of family members suspecting “foul play” were eventually followed up by an investigation of Gordon himself after medical examiners noticed concerning injuries on Bobbi’s body.
Regardless of the suspicions no charges or arrests have been made.
Gordon has respected the family’s wishes for him to stay away from the hospital so far but took to Twitter again to address his previous discussions with Brown.
“If Bobby can guarantee me that I can see [Bobbi Kristina] 24/7 I’ll meet the conditions,” Gordon tweeted on Sunday.
He then sent out another tweet to claim he was “done tweeting” and ready for any speculation and backlash from the public.
“You are all entitled to your opinion,” he tweeted. “So talk.”
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina is still on life support at an Atlanta hospital despite reports that the family had made plans to have her removed.
