This is the same way Malcolm X saw it. a constitution that was built when blacks were regarded as trash can never and will never guarantee equality between whites and blacks so long as it remains unchanged. and it is so so late to do anything about it! Describing degrees of dehumanizing and humiliating poverty does not mean "we have it good." It simply means that in a nation in which our ancestor's blood, sweat and suffering enriched offers us meager crumbs in comparison. Let us not compare degrees of oppression, but rather let us compare notes on who is doing the oppressing, and what can we collectively do about it. We are all being robbed and looted and exploited by the same forces.

Africa is a continent, made of several countries. Few American blacks know where, if at all, they come from on that continent. We are not one people, but several. The DNA connection is so waned, and the western indoctrination so pronounced that the diaspora has to make their home where ever they can. The difference is that the African has a home, they have a land where they and their ancestors have lived for hundreds of thousands of years. The privileges and freedoms that we do have as americans get smaller and smaller every day. Would we still be welcome as homeless refugees, or only with the supposed 'privileged American status'? Having the 'government' take care of you with food stamps and housing projects Is a subservient position, so that is not something to be grateful for.
Well I can't speak for all of Africa. I came from Cameroon(Africa in miniature) and I can assure you that if any black person would be welcome to settle there. The only thing that might not please you is that foreigners are scarcely permited to own landed property. Away from that, African countries are fast growing but lack a lot of know and funding, especially in the private sector. There are a lot of industries that are absent and we have to import all the time. In my country the youth hate the white man( we are among the best educated) because they come in, bribe the ministers and take away everything. Now imagine African Americans would come instead, make partners with Cameroonians and set up companies. You would be just one of us but you'd be loved as a human not because of some tag on you… Give this a try. Visit Africa – not like whites do living in hotels. Hookup with some african. Accompany them when they go home for vacation and live in their family. You'll have a different story to tell.
Don't just look at the obvious. The whiteman has to sell his arms.So where there's no war, one has to be started. The "war zones" you are talking about spread from the southern limits of the sahara to the equator. So mostof Africa is safe. You want civilised cities? hahaha! Well you can watch videos of almost any African city on youtube or you can zoom onto any town on google maps to see how it's built. You don't need an expert here. If you want to visit then I'll advise you to first accompany some african going home. Then you can think of going alone.

These are 4 countries plus Nigeria with her Boko Haram problem. There's war in Syria and it's Arab killing Arab, in Ukraine its whites killing whites. Should Africans form an opinion about Black America solely on blacks killing blacks in Chicago? The majority of the rest of Africa is safe. The African perception of Life, Property, Universal harmony and social equilibrium, is vastly divergent from the rest of the world…also while we would have liked to experience a slow and gradual unifying trajectory towards balance with our habitat, medicine, religion, technology and culture, we have been rudely awakened from our fantasy of a world where things could be left on a more ergonomic and adaptive evolution of development and have been forced by greed, manipulation, hate, racism and conquest to realize that the process of one man subjugating another for resources, supremacy or just basic cruelty will be visited on any and all societies that remain, incredulous to the intentions of conquerors, inert technologically and naive culturally…We long ago lost our thirst to influence our destiny as a united people and this has and still makes us easy pickings…

With all due respect sister, I think you are missing the point. If you ever travel to Africa or any so called third world, poverty there is on another scale. The commodities we take for granted (hot water, electricity, plumbing, discounted food, section 8, social services, ambulances, etc…) don't exist there. Many countries don't have the resources or the infrastructure to provide these services. Lets not forget, we were the greatest resource that Europeans took out of Africa. As a result, Africa crumbled and never recovered. We are benefiting from that, but at what cause?
Yes Brother, we were Hebrews, but we predate Hebrews by 10's of thousands of years. Our history is beyond the knowledge that has been accessed so far. Go look up the "astronomical observatory at Nabta Playa" This dates back to at least 11,000 B.C., they have no understanding how it could have been constructed unless they had the knowledge of the earth's movement for at least 52,000 years. Being a Hebrew is just another drop in our ocean of history.

The mentality that is created in America is a result of an extremely powerful propaganda machine. It teaches us to hate ourselves and Afrika, without us even being conscious of it.
Dave Echezona Brother, you speak truth. Some haven't reached that level yet. Most of the Biblical history is skewed at best. Hebrews were nomads who picked up the customs of the people they were around. These were African people. Hebrews have no land. There is no place called Hebrew. They were a sect. Africans sold Africans as slaves, but it shouldn't be looked upon in the same degree of the slavery that existed in America. They are two different things.

The very same European empires that kidnapped millions of Africans and brought them to the New World as slaves are the same empires that colonized Africa and abused the continent for centuries. For example, Belgium, under King Leopold 2, turned The Congo into one huge rubber plantation and in the process killed over 10 million Africans. One of the largest genocides in history that continued right up until the 1960's and yet nobody teaches this in western schools or in America. After Haiti (a country that was once very rich in cotton, tea and sugar plantations and accounted for 20% of the French economy) won it's freedom from the French in 1804, France, Britain and the US blockaded Haiti out of fear that their slave revolution would spread to other slave owning territories. France also forced Haiti to pay an indemnity to France that Haiti was paying up until 1942 and is said to be worth about 30 billion in today's dollars. This abuse is the reason why Haiti is so poor today. Also, to this very day, France forces 14 African countries to put their currency reserves into the French central bank. This artificially props up the French economy creating wealth for the French and poverty for the Africans. European colonization of Black and Brown people around the world has not ended and these are the big issues that still face people of colour. This prolonged behaviour of exploitation by rich countries first has to be exposed and talked about and then confronted for change to occur.
Ihye Jaye I agree that if you would compare Africa's poverty to America's poverty, it's deep. But, just because blacks in America have the basic needs like food and water, not being as scarce a commodity, it does not mean that they should settle for the problems they are having (basic human rights, the right to dignity and equality). I think that if you look at the current times, crimen injuria in America is more extreme than in Africa, though its economy is better than ours. I think that is what African Americans are protesting against.
I come from Ghana and I agree with Akon in the fact that most African Americans do not even consider Africa a vacation spot. it is rather unfortunate that most foreigners I see in Ghana are people from other countries like China and even Americans ie. white citizens coming in to learn about the country and in general touring other african countries in the process. I do admit that Africa is very different considering economies, temperature, food and other things but it wouldn't hurt just visiting that is if you are up to it of course.
Ghana is a wonderful place to go. I have gone several times over the last 20 years. I try to take friends when I can. The kind of "shaking" I do is on the dance hall floor. I love the people of Ghana (from Accra to Bolgatanga). Go experience! See the good and the bad. Ghana is very much like New Orleans where I live… with a culture enriched by the struggles and creativity of the people.

That was very endearing for Akon to encourage blacks to start visiting and possibly live in Africa.
As an African American/ Black Man, Negro or whatever my Brothers and Sisters from Mother Africa refer to me as being; I noticed how we fail to UNITE as one and make change in the Motherland. We don't even worship God together. The Brothers and Sisters from africa assimilate the fashion and swagger of the African American, and some subscribe to that street hustler behavior. However, I don't see nothing that represents any type of BUSINESS building. So miss me with the petty issues of nothing, because ALL of us are making everybody else communities ECONOMICALLY, EDUCATIONALLY, and CIVILLY viable, other than OUR OWN.

My comment is not about which of our people has it worst. Any instrument used to measure our status in the world shows that Africans on the continent and those in the Diaspora are at the bottom. He is sadly mistaken about the "Black American" presence in Africa. I`ve been to seven countries and we are everywhere: the urban and rural parts. We are in Nigeria and especially Ghana where I, and many others have relocated. His information is based on subjective personal opinion and not facts.

I support Akon point of view, i rather live in a country I will be very respected for who I am and loved by the people around and be happy even if there is not much of infrastructure and social amenities than living in the place where is all the social amenities but I cant get much of it and also no love and still treated like a no body at the end of the day fear getting killed like an animal by those people who should protect you, that's bulshit, the problems with Americans is that they never even try to know who they are or where they come from, they will always tell you Africa is a place of poverty and disease as the whiteman tells them which is not true, Africa is better off that, its a whole big continent with different countries which in that countries has classes of lifestyle like in every other country, you see rich, middle class and poor people like you see them in Europe and America too, wake up! you guys should just wake up!
