When having conversations about identity it is crucial that people learn the difference in definitions of race, nationality and ethnicity. Soledad O'Brien had a teaching moment here where she failed, he asked her if she had to pick one which would she choose when it was obvious that no one in the room seemed to understand that "Latina" is an ethnicity, "Black" is a race and Soledad mentioned her Irish heritage which is a nationality. There is a huge difference between them all. One can be Black with a Latin culture living in Ireland; one is what you are, what you do and the other is where you are from.
She identifies with Black only in that it's the reason she has a million dollar a year salary. Her children are the proof of what she identifies with for 100% REAL and they're? Almost as white as their father, which is a whole lot whiter than Soledad will ever be.
You put Your money where Your mouth is and? You put Your Black Love where Your sperm or egg will be taught to go….
A product of a Cuban mother and an Australian father, (She is not fluent in Spanish) Soledad is a member of The National Association of Black Journalists and a member of The National Association of Hispanic Journalists. (In addition, she has an accomplished resume in the arena of social justice). She should not have been subjected to such a ridiculous question in that format, as if she were on a silly game show. Where did that question come from? Who's idea was it? Furthermore, who she chose to love, marry and have children with, is not the business of the public.
It was a baited question, and I absolutely hate questions like this. There's no way she could have answered that question without someone booing at her.
And by the way, race doesn't exist. It's a lie, created thousands of years ago to keep people divided and at each other's throats.
I never considered Soledad O'Brien by anything other than being an attractive woman and a palatable anchorwoman before I saw this. I swear.

Who's booing her? Of course white folks. No shocker there.

Well said.
That's where you made your first mistake, using the white man's self-serving depraved logic……..Black is NOT a "race".

Only one is a race. IJS
Black a color, not race… It's 2015 people.
Her children's experiences are not her own, so to say that's what She identifies with would in my opinion be wrong.

Again another Afrikan who does not have A CLUE.
No Soledad WE need a lot of support..i am also Afrikan Cuban but not hiding.
the rulers want americans at each others throats. they are soo evil and racists.
If a person looks Black and claims Anything other than Just Black..they should automatically be put on the "Suspected List" as Neely Fuller says.
