Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Cleanup
Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Vietnam all volunteered to help with the massive cleanup following the oil rig explosion at Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. Eleven crew members died in the catastrophic eruption that spilled 42,000 gallons of oil each day into the gulf for four months. It was one of the worst ecological disasters in history, causing untold damage to the environment and to the economy of the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Hurricane Katrina Aftermath
To help those ravaged by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Israel donated 80 tons of food, beds, blankets, medical supplies and generators that were shared among various American government agencies and civil organizations. Israel also provided $2,000 grants to thousands to continue their education at six Israeli universities.
