Social media users, like many others, just couldn’t make sense of Selma’s nomination for Best Picture of the Year but a stunning lack of nominations for any other major categories. Outside of the Best Picture and Best Original Song, Selma came up short on Oscar nominations.
Selma Must Have Directed Itself
Nominating Selma for Best Picture was an acknowledgment of the quality of the film, so it seemed strange that the directors, actors and writers behind the film didn’t get any recognition of their own. It was a weird occurrence that caused one user to sarcastically suggest that Selma directed itself.
