The Iggy Azalea/ Azealia Banks saga continues, this time with a third party joining the mix. Hackers going by the twitter handle @TheAnnonMessage joined the battle on Friday night by threatening to release images from Azalea’s alleged sex tape unless she publicly apologizes to Banks and all of the protesters of #blacklivesmatter.
The account posted tweets the day after Banks’ breakdown on Hot 97, claiming they could do more damage to Azalea’s career than Bill Cosby’s molestation scandals and that she would lead a “life of suffering” if she did not comply.
The tweets, ranging from defaming to down-right threatening, are as follows:
“We apologize for our followers with regards to this following statement: F**k you, @IGGYAZALEA. #ICantBreathe”
“Trashy b*tch.”
“We have so much sh*t on you, your scandal would be bigger than Bill Cosby’s.”
” @IGGYAZALEA, you have exactly 48 hours from now to release a statement apologizing to @AzealiaBanks and the protesters in NYC…”
“You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner’s death. @IGGYAZALEA”
“There’s an X rated tape of you, we bet you’d certainly don’t want public, are we right? @IGGYAZALEA….and this is nothing. Comply or else.”
The tweets were incited by the ongoing feud that sparked between Banks and Azalea after Banks commented on the Australian rapper’s silence after the Michael Brown and Eric Garner verdicts.
Earlier in the month, Banks tweeted “Its funny to see people Like Igloo Australia silent when these things happen… Black Culture is cool, but black issues sure aren’t huh?” Followed by a tweet saying “If you’re down to ride with us bitch you gotta RIDE ALL THE WAY.”
Azalea then responded saying “Theres more to sparking a change than trolling on social media. World issues shouldn’t be used as a poor excuse to promote fan battles.”
Banks isn’t the only member of the hip hop community frustrated with Azalea. Hip hop legend Q-Tip also recently took to Twitter to school Azalea in a string of tweets.
He tweeted about the history of hip hop and how it was a way for young Black and latino kids to express themselves before addressing her appropriation of the culture.
“Now u are fulfilling your dreams … BUT! you have to take into account the HISTORY as you move underneath the banner of hip hop,” he tweeted. “As I said before hip hop is fun, it’s vile, it’s dance, it’s traditional, it’s light hearted, but 1 thing it can never detach itself from is being a SOCIO-Political movement. U may ask why … Well once you are born black your existence, I believe, is joined with socio-political epitaph and philos based on the tangled and treacherous history SLAVERY alone this is the case, it never leaves our conversation… Ever. Whether in our universities our dinner tables our studios or jail cells. The effects still resonates with us. It hurts… We get emotional and angry and melancholy. Did u know president Clinton was the ONLY PRESIDENT to apologize for it? Did u know that remnants of slavery exist today thru white privilege? When certain “niceties” r extended your way because of how u look? Isn’t that crazy? I say this 2 say u are a hip hop artist who has the right 2 express herself however she wishes. This is not a chastisement this is not admonishment at ALL this is just one artist reaching to another hoping to spark insight into the field you r in.”
Azalea’s rap mentor T.I was quick to jump to her defense on Twitter.
“I know you don’t deserve all da negative s— that comes your way, but like I’ve told you before it just kinda comes with da territory,” he tweeted referencing Azalea. “So in a nutshell, absorb da info…. apply it where most useful, and above all KEEP SHINING, FOLLOW YOUR HEART, & STAY TRUE TO WHO U ARE!!!”
He went on to say “We’re all just a bunch of hypocrites. And thats not hip hop!!!!
Even fellow members of the Anonymous group don’t agree with the way AnonMessage is going about the situation.
@YourAnonNews, a Twitter account tied to Anonymous said that they did not agree with @anonmessage, nor did they represent the anonymous “hive.”
“We do not support the actions of @TheAnonMessage (remember, they fail dox’d a cop — just sayin folks, beware) cc @IGGYAZALEA,” one tweet said.
The message was in reference to an incident in August when @TheAnonMessage tried to identify the police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., but instead released the name and Facebook of the wrong man, causing mass chaos.
“The only messages that @TheAnonMessage seem to have these days (and previous days) are that which are not of our hive. #Anonymous,” another tweet said.
Rumors of an Azalea sex tape are nothing new. The scandal has been coming to a head since September when TMZ reported that someone at Vivid Entertainment had seen the tape of Azalea and an ex-boyfriend.
Azalea still denies that any such tape exists.
