It was deemed a justifiable homicide. In 1966, King was convicted for second-degree murder after stomping his employee, Sam Garrett, to death when Garrett owed him $600.
In 1993, Snoop Dogg was arrested and charged along with his bodyguard, McKinley Lee, in the death of Phillip Woldermarian, a member of a rival gang. The rapper and Lee were defended by well-known lawyer Johnnie Cochran and were acquitted in 1996.
