  1. I honor this sista for her meaningful words. And yes, they don't care because this is a pain they don't know of (by way of feeling it), they only know the pain they inflict…big difference. In other words, this shit stops the moment it reaches their own doors. Let that marinate.

  2. Pierre Don says:

whites are happy blacks get killed they have inferiority complex to deal with.

  3. thank you, miss perry, for strong telling of our pain. truth be told like mother told me one time," the white man took over everything." causing us pain.

  4. Jay Contreras says:

I agree but what it says is that they lack basic human 'empathy'..it's a hallmark of sociopathy, which is a form of mental illness. Let's call it what it is.

  5. This is just a WOW editorial from Melissa HP…. in that it's WOW, I can't believe that anyone can paint a whole group of people, black or white, male or female, with such a wide brush.

I don't know if there is anything to the idea that medical personnel actually treat patients differently for pain management based on skin color but that would REALLY surprise me, since my sister works in medical records management and the protocols for pain meds seem to be based on height/weight and other measureable physical factors rather than on racial identity. So I would have to question that survey or poll or whatever for validity. Plus, can you imagine the lawsuits that would open up for hospitals and doctors if that could be proven? Yikes!

On another front in this discussion, I have been in the past so frustrated with the employment situation in our country that I joke about starting my own employment agency and calling it "Discriminating Employment" where I will ONLY help young black men between the ages of 18 and 30 and anyone over the age of 50 find a good job. It's supposed to be funny, but it's not really. It's just that I've sat in the employment office alongside others and had some interesting conversations about all of this.

I think/dream about starting a construction business and hiring people to build new homes, giving preference first to those I think need the job the most rather than concerning myself with what school they went to or who they are related to, like many other employers seem to do. And it's not just skin tone or racial background that seem to get in the way of finding a good job, being too old or too fat or even too physically unattractive (ugly is such an ugly word and so subjective anyway), these attributes can limit a person from finding work too. How many times do we overlook a truly talented person simply because we are "judging a book by it's cover"? Big mistake.

What I would want to see in any potential employee is a sense of desire for the job, a willingness to show up on time, everyday and work honestly and to listen and learn, the ability to read, write and understand English well enough to be safe while they work, and most importantly, to be absolutely drug free. In exchange for these talents, the job would pay very well. I also think that anyone working today should be paid well enough to support a family on one income and be respected for their work ethic and treated fairly by the employer too.

We can't have families struggling to make ends meet and households that would be better off with government assistance than a full time job for one of the parents. We need strong two parent households, where one parent can afford to stay home with the young children while the other works. Historically, despite feminist objections, this is the best scenario for the children.

After WWII, we all got screwed by the increased supply of workers pushing the wages lower for everyone, when both men and women were competing in the job market. (NOT that I'm against women working too). It's just that it used to be that only one income would take care of the basic needs of a family. Nowadays, you almost need two income earners to even consider buying a home or a new car. That's not good for our society. AND it's not good for our families.

I've been brainstorming for years about winning the Powerball and what I would do if I did. I don't think about racism. I think about community. I think about the needs of the people around me. And I confront those who assume that just because they happen to have the same skin tone as I do, that I must think like they do. I'm beginning to think that I should also be confronting those who assume that just because I am differently pigmented, that I automatically can't understand their pain or intellectual position on things as well. Both ideas are just plain stupid thinking.

Just because a person is pale or not so pale skinned, any assumptions about how they think or what they believe based on their skin color should be tossed out.

I happen to think that the young police officer in Ferguson was right to defend himself, even to the point of shooting that young man. I don't happen to think that the police officers in NYC were exercising enough care in the process of arresting that other man who also died. I am sad about Tamir in Cleveland, who was only 12, getting shot and killed by that young police officer who was IMO overly zealous in his actions, but then what should we expect if any person is waiving a gun around and aiming it at people in a public park or elsewhere? Where were his parents? Why was this kid allowed to act like this? And don't fool yourselves into thinking that a pellet gun can't seriously injure anyone…. I know a person who routinely kept the stray cats out of his yard by shooting them dead with a pellet pistol. Even a toy gun that looks real is cause for extreme caution by the police who have no idea if it's a toy or not.

The whole point is that just because I happen to be white, doesn't mean I don't understand what it means to feel discrimination. I really do understand. I have been discriminated against too. And I worry about the future of our families and our country if we persist on focusing on our "differences" instead of our common strengths. Can you imagine a football team where the offense doesn't like or trust the defense and vice versa? How successful is the team going to be in any game? We HAVE TO get past this racism crap and play like a team in America.

A house divided cannot long stand. We've been divided WAY too long. Don't let the media or the race baiters keep pushing the racism ideology as our "truth" in this country, because it just doesn't have to be our truth. The reality is that Barack Obama was elected in 2008 and that would not have happened if a good bunch of the white folks weren't on board with voting for him as well. I always knew, from the time I was about 9 years old, that any kid could grow up to be the president if they wanted to. And even though I didn't vote for Barack (for reasons unrelated to his racial identity), I still cried happy tears when he was elected because I knew that FINALLY, everyone would also know that same truth. Let's just stop this racism insanity once and for all. It's time.

    God Bless All Of Us.

    Cathy

I see this daily with white people they FUCK black men but would never give a care if they hurt.

  7. Darn Cat says:

Its shortsighted people like you who are perpetuating the racial divide in this country.

Yeah, sure you know what discrimination is.

Sure, its easy to be on a team with someone who has been killing your families and peoples and hating you

You have no idea what it is like.
Did your family spend hundreds of years slaving with no rights to create vast wealth for white families (who still have it and are still running everything) while receiving only injury in the process?!?

When your family members are murdered, do ignorant people automatically assume them criminals? Do you ever even have to think about being perceived as a criminal during job interviews, harassment by the police, society- ever?

Have American corporations spent millions of dollars on your destruction? Have they instituted dictators around the globe who oppress your people, put you in death camps, and try to eliminate your peoples entirely? Has that EVER happened to you?!?

Do you dream that this is the night they are coming for you? Have you ever dreamt that they were coming for all your people? Would you even know what that means?!?

Has your land been stolen from you? Did anyone purposely murder your families and stole all their land and possessions? Do they have a fence to keep your people out?!?

No. You don't understand any of this, but you want it to go away.

Listen lady, the oppression inherit in this system affects everyone. Even slavery ruined 90% of white people's lives in the south because they couldn't get jobs… that is how they play us all against each other. Don't pretend racism doesn't exist- its the elites #1 tactic against us. Maybe it doesn't for you, because you are lilly white and privileged. I'm sure you mean well, but you don't have a lick of experience to be able to understand this… LISTEN to those who DO.

By the way, you are showing your own internalized racism with your comments about Tamir. They drove right up to him and shot him before they stopped the car. Its not illegal to carry a REAL gun in that park, let alone a toy gun (i pass that park every day and there are always 100 kids with toy guns 'waving them around' there) and none of that is relevant anyhow as the cops DIDN'T SEE ANY OF IT. Had he been white, and this a typical incident, they would have given warning, called in back-up; heck they'd have him surrounded with bullhorns out like a hostage situation for hours if he had been white (and the gun been real, which obviously it wasn't) but no, instead they just drove right up to him and murdered him without warning. As a resident of the area, its quite obvious that the district 2 cops (they are horrible gangsters who steal, rape, and kill, both black and white people, but they are especially racist) have been looking for an excuse to kill one of these 'punk' kids with the paintball guns that they hate so much for some time and finally (thought) they could get away with it. However, since you have a blind spot to racism, you can't even comprehend the truth. Your blinded and it makes you useless.

  8. First of all, you don't know me. You are judging me by my color. This is EXACTLY the problem. Do you want me to do that to you? I don't think so. You don't know what I've been through, what my family has been through, etc. How dare you! You don't have the market cornered on historic abuse for your cultural background. We can either continue to wallow in the muck of racism and we can play the "pity me, I'm a victim" game for another few centuries if we want to OR we can finally rise above all of this animosity and work together to stop it. I believe that Martin Luther King Jr would agree more with me than with you on this. I invite you again to consider whether or not it is better to work together or to continue fighting. For the sake of my children and grandchildren and their children to come, I want to see an end to racism and bigotry. I'm tired of anyone getting killed by anyone else for any stupid reason. Aren't you?

  9. Shannon Anne Carter says:

Cathy, instead of asking Melissa to provide you with proof of the studies regarding pain treatment, WHY DON'T YOU LOOK IT UP? You obviously have access to the internet, so a quick Google search would have given you that information. Its clear that you don't want it because you don't want to believe it. This is a KNOWN fact. This is not an opinion based on questionable surveys.

Unfortunately, your response to this is a typical response I've seen from white people. You QUICKLY made this ALL ABOUT YOU. YOU were offended that she supposedly painted a group with a broad stroke. YOU'VE suffered discrimination too. YOU don't believe in the studies she references. YOU'VE done this, that, or the other to "help" Black people. YOU think Michael and Tamir deserved to be killed. YOU'VE been brainstorming. If YOU had a business, this is what YOU would do. YOU, YOU, YOU.

Its ridiculously easy to say something as idiotic as, "We can either continue to wallow in the muck of racism and we can play the "pity me, I'm a victim" game" when YOU are not on the receiving end of the type of racism that has created these situations. Would you tell a victim of rape, "stop playing the victim game?" Perhaps you would, but if you wouldn't, why is it ok to tell Black people that?

YOU are no different from the people Melissa is talking about. YOU sound just like them so its pretty hilarious that YOU are offended that she painted a group with such a wide brush when YOU obviously fit snugly into that group. YOU think the way she said people like YOU think. People who simply CANNOT empathize with Black men (people).

Are you a racist? I couldn't care less. Interpersonal racism doesn't concern nor offend me. I don't long for the approval or affection of random people. We're talking about INSTITUTIONAL and SYSTEMIC issues. In other words, we ain't talkin about YOU.

As Darn Cat said, "Its shortsighted people like you who are perpetuating the racial divide in this country."

    YOU disgust me.

  10. Shannon Anne Carter says:

Cathy Titchenal Did you really try to invoke Dr. King in an argument where you basically told people to stop talking complaining about racism? ARE YOU SERIOUS? The only reason you know his name is because he spent the better part of his life PUBLICLY AND VERBALLY talking about the victims of racism!!! How can you heal racism without talking about it and the people it affects?

Dr. King wouldn't agree with you. He would calmly shut your stupidity DOWN.

Since you clearly have no idea what that man was about, leave his name out of your mouth.

  11. Darn Cat says:

    Cathy Titchenal –
First of all, the fact that you claim to speak for Dr. Martin Luther King just goes to show how out of touch and entitled you are. As if you are the authority on what he believed? If anything, having studied Social Justice at Antioch College, the school his wife, whom I met, studied the exact same subject 50 years ago, I am in a position to understand this far far beyond you- yet I would still never never claim to speak for MLK, because I am not an entitled clueless white person who thinks they can even tell a black man what he means. Your arrogance and racism is only slightly less revolting than the fact you aren't even aware of it.

Furthermore, if you were really "tired of anyone getting killed by anyone else for any stupid reason" you would not be supporting the system or the murderer who killed this child. You speak in code. WE ARE working together by supporting those who have been wronged. Your idea of "working together" is everyone shut up so you white folk don't feel uncomfortable. Its sad. About half the white people in this country at least have a clue what is up, and then the rest are like this clueless tool Cathy who isn't even aware of her racism. I'm done having patience with that half; at this point, the ignorance is willful.

  12. Darn Cat says:

    Jay Contreras
that is the right wing mind set. its been scientifically proven that the right wing mindset is merely a symptom of sociopathic disorder. these message boards don't even contain the word "sociopathy" in their dictionary, because they are run by sociopathic right wingers who are doing everything they can to obscure the fact their entire way of thinking is a mental illness.

  13. Darn Cat says:

Sociopaths are. Many people with white skin are out on the street right now fighting the cops over this… are you paying attention?

The shizzy is going down right here, blocks from where they murdered Tamir. And it is affecting everything.

My (ex)GF lives right next door to Cuddell, and I had to break up with her because she said she would have shot Tamir between the eyes zombie style… i mean WTF

funny story- now she is dating a black guy who works for Boehner and agrees with her that the cops had a right to murder Tamir. So you see, sociopaths come in every size, shape, and color.

  14. Marie J. Charles says:

In response to Cathy Tichenal. I believe everything that Melissa said is true. I respect your opinion, but I disagree with you in many aspects. Racism can be very subtle. Why do you think Blacks, Hispanics, American Indians etc.are more prone to many diseases than Whites? It has nothing to do with genetics, but to social disparities, limited access to health care. You will be surprised. Do not act that you cannot believe it. The statistics are there to prove it.Thank God, not all Whites think like you otherwise things will never change. You just want to deny racism, because it makes you uncomfortable. Racism is a disease, but it can be curable. It takes a lot of courage for a White person to affirm it and take a stand against it.You cannnot feel Blacks pain, because your are not Black. Thank God, there are a lot of good White folks out there who treat Blacks as humans, believe that we need changes and racism should not be tolerated. They are a lot more of good Whites than we think. Many have died for Blacks freedom. It is only a minority who refuses changes. When Blacks strive to have a decent life, get educated, raised their children to be well mannered, live in a decent neighbohood, it bothers some folks, they get upset at them and give them attitude such as "who do you think you are". If you are a nurse they assume that you must be a maid or if you are a physician they assume that you are the garbage man, before realizing that you are a professional. You just do not know what racism is and you cannot understand Blacks pain. Be empathetic, but not sympathetic. It is all about compassion, respect, and dignity, We are all humans. After all, when we die you cannot tell which one is Black or White deep under the ground. That is for sure. God is a rightheous God.

  16. Shannon Anne Carter This response to Cathy about YOU is absolutely ON POINT! I can't 'Like' it enough times! Very, very well done!

  17. Darn Cat says:

Marie J. Charles – I really appreciate your post.I would only change one thing-
change "treat Blacks as humans" to "treat as family"! Every human is family. To bad for all these racist hillbilly types who just estrange themselves from family. I just had to break up with my ex because it turns out she's guilty of that. She actually was clueless and vile enough to say she would have shot Tamir between the eyes zombie style like it was a joke. Its sad that people like her and this Cathy character are so blind to the warps in their own mind but we need to keep pointing this out ever second untill they iron those out and rejoin the human family. Jah A'donai Bless

  18. I've read all your responses, written a long reply, bagged the whole thing and said to myself, it's just not worth it to try to talk to you about this stuff. You're all hung up on my being white and can't see past that point. Meanwhile, I'm going to go home and rock my littlest brown skinned grandson to sleep and kiss the other precious little ones goodnight too. May God bless us all on this journey through life. Happy Christmas!

  19. LaShawnda Jones says:

This is deep and very well done. Thanks.

  20. The divide is deeply rooted in our history which enabled America to utilize forced servitude to obtain its great wealth. The invisible hand of racism and legacy has lead to policies which have enforced the seperation of races and promoting a two tier system.

  21. Shannon Anne Carter says:

Cathy Titchenal I think that's best Cathy. You're obviously not ready for a conversation where your deeply embedded prejudices are called to light and questioned. But for the record, everything you said would have been just as offensive if it had come from a Black person; moreso in that it would have showcased a serious case of self-hate rather than racism.

May God seriously bless the Black child whom you are the grandparent of. He will truly need it. Alas, society sees him just as they see Trayvon, Jordan, Tamir, and Michael, and he might not even have the familial support he needs to share this knowledge with him.

  22. Tony Eastman says:

Darn Cat How do you scientifically prove what I think? Stop judging people based on what you perceive to be their opinions. It is possible to think that Micheal Brown was a criminal, that police brutality is a problem, that more black men die needlessly in police confrontations than there should be, that police are as whole good and decent people, and that race baiting is alive and well all at the same time. Being liberal does not mean you have sole possession of all things moral.

  23. Gregorio Adam Davila says:

There needs to be some accountability on the black community's part. And responding to why are they continually turning out criminals? It can't be all white people's fault.

  24. Why is the white community continually turning out criminals? Why doesnt the white community need to take accountability?

  25. Gregorio Adam Davila says:

Latanya Powell Lay Well for one the white community isn't constantly blaming everyone else for their problems. And two, blacks make up only 12% of the population but account for nearly 45% of crime and murder, particularly in their own community. But yet there's this constant theme that whites are to blame.

  28. Char Jackson says:

Shannon Anne Carter YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!

  29. Darn Cat says:

Tony Eastman – please do some occasional research before you begin making outlandish accusations, please. here is a sample just scratching the surface of the great depths of volumes of proof for this- which you didn't request, because you hoped beyond reason that it didn't exist; it does. I assume your diseased brain's malfunctions must meanly mislead your understandiing of the concept. Obviously your inability to accept even the possibility that i had this proof on hand is evidence to the degree of your right wing sociopathic disorder.

  31. Darn Cat says:

Cathy Titchenal – this grandson you would like to see shot dead by the police while playing in the park? i think not… so shut your hypocritical, idiot arse up and stop trying to justify the murder of a young child playing in a park by a racist and destructive system (and murderous evil pig).

  32. Tony Eastman says:

On hand? It took you two days to reply. You really have trouble grasping that some people have a different opinion than you do. And wow are you ever rude about it too.

You posted links to an entire book (that has no mention of conservatism in the description), a paper by a professor (so hard to find a liberal one) that claims I am a racist because I just don't like change, and a blog.

Is that really the best you can do in two days? I am sure you are not as well versed as you think you are.

  33. Darn Cat says:

Tony Eastman – on hand because i haven't been on in two days and just saw the response. what am i supposed to live my whole life to answer your questions? i responded the very second i saw it. chill out, bro dude.

thanks for puttin words in my mouth, bra. i can't find the word "racist" anywhere in my post to you, but you sure seem sensitive about it, so i'm going to go with that, too. frankly, you wouldn't be on here arguing against a black woman's call for racial understanding if you possessed any understanding at all, so yeah, the fact that you are on here arguing- yeah, i'll buy that. since you brought it up, i can totally believe that you are a racist too.

  34. Darn Cat says:

Tolerance of ambiguity- that is what conservatives lack. If you read about the topic for a few seconds you would understand the word "conservatism" isn't the only way to explain the concept. Ha! That's due to your intolerance of ambiguity!!! Classic! One could not script this any better!!!

In any event, chillax dude, accept you don't understand everything, accept that some things are never to be completely understood, BREATHE and you will gain some understanding.

  35. Unless the white man live the life of a black man or walk in his shoes that's the only way he can understand. The smiles the give thee don't mean much to us.the teaching that they received did not really teach about the black man has the same the same feelings of and love and compassion they. That officer had as much hatred in him @ the time of the shooting as he still does. The justice system and the people that represent it should search their hearts if they have one. It's sad to see really what's going on it the world & the US of A.

  36. I am so glad that someone who has a voice is addressing self hatred. We need to be proud of our heritage instead of assimilation into the white culture.

The justification is always the same, isn't it? "Black on black crime! Statistics, statistics, statistics, blah, blah, blah, rah, rah!" People that open with any comment like that are already proving Melissa's point.

  40. The fact remains that to live Black in America is something that only a black person could truly understand. Proof of racism is that someone commented that blacks need to quit making excuses. WHAT YOU CALL AN EXCUSE IS OUR REALITY. Black people spends most of our time trying to make it. To just live. THERE IS A SYSTEM SET AGAINST US THAT PREVENTS THAT. Your ancestors MURDERED AND STOLE from my ancestors to provide the life of privilege you've come to know. Your forefathers stole and ERASED our names, religion and dynasties from record and you can't understand. It's impossible to put that history behind us when there's EVIDENCE that that system of hatred toward us is still VERY MUCH IN EFFECT. I get it though, it would be hard to admit that my ancestors were rapist, murders, liars, pirates and bastards who's intentions were to subjugate a people and I still benefit from that system. I get that you are in denial.

The craziest part of all of this is everyone acts like white people don't have problems. Am I the only one watching Forensic Files, Snapped, Killer Kids, Killer Couples and the like. White folks all through them shits. So miss me with this idea that white people are the moral authority. White men have baby mama's, white women are waiting on child's support, white people are drug addicted, white people are unemployed and in welfare. AND YES THERE IS WHITE ON WHITE CRIME. But black folks are the most reported on. If you can't see the racism in that you're an idiot.

I see black men as the biggest enemy to black women. if I didn't study slavery and judging from today's society would think black men were the slave masters as the nasty things they say about black women all day on social media, talking about their private parts in the most disgraceful way. the black man is the enemy of even the black man as they gang rape both black men and black women than any other race combine. y'all walk around and flaunt your dick with the fake ass myth as if it's something to be prod of, then complain when people treat you like the over sexed womanizing beast that you all are. the worst fathers, husbands(and that is almost non existence) lovers, friends. black men feel no pain as they turn their pain into rage and abuse. black men are famous to this day for rape, physical, emotional and sexual abuse in and out of relationship and also famous for mind torture. y'all looking like demon and act like one, anyone would fear you but getting to know a black man you will realize that they are just silent wolves, docile dogs.
