11 States With the Most Anti-Minority Hate Groups

The Southern Poverty Law Center produced an interactive map counting the number of hate groups spread out across the United States. According to the results, these are the states with the most branches of hate groups against minorities. This includes the Ku Klux Klan, White Nationalists, anti-Muslims, skinheads, neo-Nazis and more. Texas Texas has 43 different branches of hate groups against people of color. Despite Texas' massive size, most of the groups are concentrated in east and northeast Texas. There are 21 different Klan branches in the state. New Jersey Thirty-six different branches of hate groups against people of color are found in the state. Twenty-three of the groups are different branches of the racist skinheads. California California has 32 different branches of hate groups against people of color. The state has a variety of groups against minorities, like neo-Nazis and White Nationalists. However, there are only two branches of the KKK. Florida Florida has 29 different branches of hate groups against people of color. The state has 10 racist skinhead groups and eight White Nationalist groups. Georgia Georgia has 25 different branches of hate groups against people of color. There are 10 branches of the Klan, five White Nationalist groups and four neo-Confederate branches. Tennessee Tennessee has 25 different branches of hate groups against people of color. There are five different KKK groups in Tennessee divided among 11 branches and covering seven cities. North Carolina North Carolina has 22 different branches of hate groups against people of color. Five different versions of the Klan are in North Carolina. The KKK is represented in 10 cities. Pennsylvania There are 21 different branches of hate groups against people of color. Pennsylvania has eight different racist skinhead groups like: Aryan Strikeforce, Aryan Terror Brigade and the Eastern Hammerskins. Alabama Twenty different branches of hate groups against people of color are in Alabama. There are five branches of the White Nationalists and six for the KKK. Mississippi Mississippi has 19 different branches of hate groups against people of color. The KKK is represented in 11 different cities in Mississippi. New York New York has 18 different branches of hate groups against people of color. It may be hard to tell from the map, but there are a lot in the area of New York City -- 11 White Nationalist groups and seven anti-Muslim groups.
