Solange Knowles Ties the Knot and Breaks the Internet

Screen Shot 2014-11-17 at 10.28.43 AMBaby sister to the Queen Bey and hit maker in her own right, Solange Knowles tied the knot on Sunday, and yes, Jay-Z was there.

Knowles married her fiancé, American music video director Alan Ferguson. The whole affair resembled something out of a Vogue-inspired fairy tale. The entire wedding party looked elegant in white. Husband and wife, Knowles and Ferguson rode around on gorgeously simple antique bikes through New Orleans, Knowles in a white Stephanie Rolland jumpsuit. She later changed into her gown for the ceremony in the Holy Trinity Church in the Bywater area.

Solange graced the alter wearing a caped Kenzo wedding dress designed by Humberto Leon. The wedding party was its own star studded event, including sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé’s mother Tina, and Janelle Monae. The entire party was photographed for Vogue.

House of Dereon designer, Tina, wore a classy long-sleeved floor length gown while Beyonce kept it short and sweet in a fitted white dress.

“Everyone I worked with on the wedding are friends who I love,” said Knowles in an email to Vogue . “Everything was a labor of love.”

The event included performances by her musician friends Kelela, Questlove, and Kindness—and even a dance-off between Knowles and her ten-year-old son Daniel Julez Smith Jr. to “No Flex Zone.

Knowles reportedly walked down the aisle to a symphonic instrumental of Donny Hathaway’s, “I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry.”

The news and pictures of the wedding surfaced yesterday and essentially “broke the internet.” Fans were quick to jump to Instagram and Twitter, reposting Vogue’s images of the wedding and commenting things like “Breaking the Internet the right way,” and “Breaking the Internet fully clothed,” in reference to Kim Kardashian’s scandalous shoot for Paper Magazine. Though she became a national sensation after she attacked brother-in-law Jay-Z in the elevator earlier this year, prompting calls for her to sign up for some anger management courses, on this occasion Knowles showed her other side, the elegant, stylish one.

Well done, Solange.
