  1. John Ekonomou says:

She can cry all she wants. The crime rate among immigrant Mexicans is FAR LOWER than that of native born blacks. They have the same crappy schools, because they live in poor neighborhoods. They work crappy jobs. They have a language impediment. They are poor too. But they FIND work, and they do the work, and they save their money and get out of their poor neighborhoods and move up the economic ladder. Black people do not want the jobs that Mexicans take. Neither do whites. Yes, they have crime problems, but not anywhere near the extent that black neighborhoods have. The simple FACT is that Mexicans coming in to this country WORK harder. This strident know-it-all does NOT want to compare immigrant Mexicans to blacks, because it blows her theories WIDE OPEN.

  9. Bobby L. Andrews says:

This is what I do when I am out in many blighted communities, helping recover and restore and repair the breaches in the lives of the disenfranchised. It's an unsung labor of love and sacrifice that is in my soul, and I can't shake it. I've been told to go get a job. I've been called an economic parasite. For Christ's sake, this energizes me more. I will continue to B. A. Warrior for righteousness.

  10. Bobby L. Andrews says:

Michelle, this was a calculated ploy to depress and oppress all alone. The evil think-tanks, funded by public and private dollars, continue to devise plans for the extermination for the Black Man.

From the logical reasoning she uses, what can the government say to argue against her? They know this drug war is just a way to rid blacks of their rights. If not, why hasn't it ended? The nation sees that there hasn't been any success.

  15. Peter Ramsey says:

Aaron King No one in their right minds believes that a conservative of any color has the interests of the black community in mind. Try giving up trickle down economics, voter suppression tactics and the tacit support of racial profiling in its many forms among many, many other things and then maybe you'd be taken seriously. If you watched the video, which you clearly didn't, you'd see that it's a repudiation of conservative policy on this issue.

  16. Peter Ramsey says:

Charlie Willock Seems difficult for you to comprehend, actually.

  17. Aaron King says:

Peter Ramsey ….Your perspective is not representative of the entire black community. We create our own realities, and from those realities, our perspectives are born. A paradigm shift is taking shape. The more of an open mind one has, the more likely it is that a new perspective on reality will develop.

The fundamental question you must ask yourself is why do African Americans like Mia Love think the way they do, and why do you think the way you do. Apply some critical thinking, and you may well discover the reason. The question is, in the end, will you maintain your worldview, and remain in the negative domain, or shift your perspective toward a reality where everything is possible…if you simply believe it is.

  18. Peter Ramsey We can't all be as intelligent as you.

  19. Peter Ramsey says:

Aaron King I'm not in any negative domain. I simply disagree with the conservative perspective on the problems of black people. Period. I think what conservatives want, for the country as a whole, is harmful and has been the root of nearly all of our problems. The irony is that I think that your mind is the closed one and that conservatives are the ones in fear of a paradigm shift — that's why they feel the need to suppress the vote and concentrate wealth even further in the hands of those at the very top. It's called 'circling the wagons'.

Nobody is fooled by these calls to embrace an ideology that sees blacks, women, and the poor as inferior beings to be punished rather than respected.

  20. William Green says:

Peter Ramsey I am a black conservative and my views do have the best interest of the black community in mind. It was not until the Great Society that we started to see the exponential decline of the black community. Those same liberal policies are what does not have the best interest of the black community in mind. In fact, it was designed to do the opposite and create a permanent dependent underclass. If you will recall, the black community at that time due to Jim Crow laws were forced to be independent of the government. However, in order to get them "to vote Democrat for the next 200 years" they had to make them dependent on the government. The in result is the destruction of the family, substandard education and no jobs. The liberal policies and Democrats make sure that anyone that tries to change it, such as Mia Love and others are immediately attacked and destroyed and called a sellout. The main evidence to support my position is that no Republican policies are implemented in the black communities that are hardest hit because they have all been run by Democrats for the last 50-60 years. So the only hope for the black community are conservatives social and fiscal policies which is what got us through Jim Crow. I remember growing up during Jim Crow when all the businesses in the community were owned by black people. Our schools were poor but we valued our education. Everyone was called brother and sister because the church was the center of the community and was where all of our politics started and ended on the Word of God. Today, the liberal policies are in direct contrast. So, I could not disagree with you more having seen both sides implemented. The black community needs to lift up examples like Mia Love and Dr. Ben Carson instead of Beyonce and Jay-Z and you will see an immediate change in our community.

  21. Aaron King says:

Peter Ramsey ……I will defer to Mr. William Green. My opinion means nothing next to his real world experience. I look forward to your response to his rebuttal of your post.

  22. Aaron King says:

William Green …..thanks for stopping by Mr. Green. I am humbled that you share some of my views. Out of all of the potential GOP candidates in 2016, I am most excited about Dr. Ben Carson. We can only hope!!!

  23. Aaron King says:

Peter Ramsey …In closing, yours is both a cynical and twisted perspective of reality. Sad, really……..

  24. Aaron King – Understand that nobody can speak for the entire Black community. But the conservative links you post do not speak for the majority of black people. It's a message that has been repeated by most conservatives for decades and it has been rejected by the vast majority of Black people continuously. Michelle Alexander looks at this issue as a systemic problem, recognizing that it can happen to anyone (regardless of skin color) even if she doesn't come right out and says it. Whereas most conservatives look at the issue through an ideology of superiority. They view others that don't look, act or talk like them as people who need to be "saved" and need to be set on the right path. When in reality, they're no better than the people they want to cast judgement on. I side more with Alexander's viewpoint because she tries to make the case with everyone on the same level to begin with. When Mia Love and many other conservatives talk, they already think they're better than everyone else. It's in their context, their mannerisms and the way they conduct themselves.

This is why most black people reject it. This is why most liberals today reject it. And it's why you'll find few people here that will agree with you. Plain & simple.

  25. I side more with Alexander's viewpoint because she tries to make the case with everyone on the same level to begin with. When Mia Love and many other conservatives talk, they already think they're better than everyone else. It's in their context, their mannerisms and the way they conduct themselves. They want to ignore systemic issues that are obvious to those when you look at the whole picture. Instead, they believe a series of successful & happy looking people talking to everyone in respectability-styled slogans (while supporting politics that make it harder for those who need the most help) is the way to prosperity.

This is why most black people reject today's conservative ideology and the GOP. This is why most minorities reject it. This is why most liberals today reject it. And it's why you'll find few people here that will agree with you. Plain & simple. This is not your time to find another person of color to speak your message in response. If you want more minorities to go the conservative way, they have to CHANGE THEIR MESSAGE.

  26. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison The issue is the system and our approach to the problem. We approach the issue as if those that are running the system should correct their actions. Conservatives approach the issue as we should correct our actions. We do not ignore the system. We simply believe the "we the people" can control the system if we elect people that have our best interests in mind. I am saying that the proof is in the results. As you stated, black people have rejected conservative principles and embraced liberal principles. The systemic problems that you see in the poor community is the result. If the poor community embraced traditional principles that got us through the toughest time in our most recent history, Jim Crow, you will see an improvement. There was less crime, less single parents, less immorality when we depended on government less. So, while I will give you the point that Michelle is referring to the system I am saying that we choose the system under which we can live by returning to traditional (conservative) values and electing leaders with a proven track record of positive results and not one of government dependence.

By the way, no one found me. I speak for myself. I am not some puppet. It was Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parent for the purpose of extinguishing the black race, who used charismatic black preachers, such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, to speak for them to get the black people to go against their own best interest. See the quote below from an article regarding the "Negro Project":

"To carry out her population control plans, her organization, American Birth Control League that she founded in 1921, opened its facilities in predominantly black, immigrant and poor area of New York City. (This would be the template for the majority of Planned Parenthood clinics.) In 1939, with the help of wealthy Americans moguls (such as Clarence Gamble, of Procter & Gamble, and Mary Lasker) launched her racially motivated population control scheme that she called “Negro Project”, recruiting black preachers to sermonize her population control message."

As you know, abortion is a major part of the liberal ideology that the black people have been fooled to embrace. So, I think you are accusing the wrong ideology. Liberals have always found black people to sell out their own race going all the way back to slavery. It is and always will be a hallmark of the Democrat party. Come to think of it, I guess that is why liberals are so quick to accuse black conservatives of being sent by some white person. Never mind. I understand now.

  27. Donielle Owens says:

WHY Aaron King would I vote for someone so quick to say things against my community. I watch the republican national convention and I often turn to fox news just to see the things they say about people that look like me… and all I hear are comments like…. we don't want to make black peoples lives better by giving them other peoples money… rick santorum…

  28. If white people won't care, Black People will have to fix the problems ourselves. And we are capable

  29. Aaron King says:

Donielle Owens …..please cite the things that "Republicans" say that are "against" your community. Please be specific.

  30. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison …the problem is your perception. The people you mentioned don't think they are better than you. They just have different worldviews. I challenge you to cite some specific examples of how the "racist system"has made it difficult for you to be where you are today.

  31. Paul Ryan, referring to the black community, "generations of men" are "not even thinking about working"

  32. Donielle Owens says:

Aaron King we don't want to make black peoples lives better by giving them other peoples money… rick santorum… I said it the first time.

  33. Aaron must really think we a dumb and don't understand the code.

  34. This is bullshit, she's making excuses for the loosers among black people. The public school is free and so is the library.

  35. William – If the issue is the system, then the answer is not going to be answered by following a party but by following the person who has the best ideas to solve the problem. None of these systemic problems are the direct result of any one party, and to suggest that they are is a deliberate attempt to throw smokescreens and gloss over the issue. Again, you speak about the vast majority of the Black community with the implication that they do not know what's good enough for them especially if you think anything they struggle with now is a result of "voting liberal". Much of these issues, including much of what Michelle Alexander was talking about, are rooted in outdated political and socio-economical beliefs that branch back before Black people could even vote in this country. I really applaud you for your desperate attempt to spin things to validate your own political beliefs, but you don't need to be a hardcore Democrat or a devoted Republican to know that 1+1=2. You just need the ability to put your political bigotries aside and take political actions that will benefit more than just yourself. Because ultimately, you're going to need help from someone or somebody. Nobody does everything in life alone.

And that's one of the major problem with today's conservative voice. They have their base thinking they're the most self sufficient and superior people who don't need the government to do anything for them. And as we all know, that doesn't exist. This is another reason why most black people have continually voted Democrat over the last 8 decades. You'd be sadly mistaken if you think that's going to change in 2016, especially when the conservative message hasn't changed one bit.

  36. Aaron King – How pompous of you to be issuing challenges to anyone. You can take that off the table because this is not a quiz and I don't do requests. Furthermore, what I'm engaging in is an analysis of political messaging. I'm neither a Democrat or a Republican, so cheering for a party is not my aim. However, I refuse to act blind to things just so that any hardcore liberal or conservative can feel better about their own political biases. There are real reasons why the vast majority of minorities do not vote conservative these days. It's been going on in this country for decades, but instead of figuring this out and trying to create a more inclusive message most conservatives continue to banter their message of exclusivity and hope that an image change will sell the policies that most of them rejected a long time ago. That's a HUGE indicator of how poorly many conservatives in government today view the Black and other minority communities, and all of these social groups have picked up on it. Herman Cain couldn't sell it. Allen West couldn't sell it. Tim Scott can't sell it. Ben Carson won't be able to sell it. And neither will Mia Long. It's not the messenger… it's the message! Change it, or we can watch minorities vote for more liberal Democrats for another eight decades.

  37. Kara Davis says:

The stuff she is saying about the JOB issue and War on Drugs (crack 100times jail time than cocaine=RACIST) is true! But, the stuff about "good schools" is BS. I am from the inner city and alotta people just don't give a fuck about school and are focused on making fast money and they are dropping out of high school because they weren't taught to value education. You can have the BEST school, but if you aren't motivated, your parents don't make you read books, and your single parent can't keep you occupied, well the streets start to teach you and raise you. Once we eradicate this mindset, then we can get focus on knocking down the other obstacles.
If you don't have a high school diploma then, job inequities is a moot point.

  38. Aaron King says:

Norman C Harris ….I believe you are both taking them out of context, but what do I know. You can now return to your angry, bitter lives.

  39. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison ….Well, I guess they can continue to vote democrat. In the end, what will it get them? How will it help? It hasn't so far. What is going to change? The true definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing over and over, and expect different results. Great talking with you all. I am sorry I stopped by. See you on the next one!!

  40. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison Here is the thing. I believe that the problems of the black community can be traced back to the formation of the Democrat party to spread slavery throughout the country. The Republican party was formed to combat that Democrat Party and free the slaves. That is a fact of history. I am not trying to push one party over another. The system at work in the black community is a system controlled by one party, the Democrats. The system that is destroying the black community and the Democrat party are inseparable. You cannot look at the system without examining the political system at work in the community.

Regarding today's Republican party, they speak of conservative values but the leadership is not conservative. I am not recommending the Republican party as a solution. However, I am recommending that conservative values like, personal responsibility, school choice, family values, fiscal responsibility as a solution. Politically, it would be better if the black community did not vote monolithicly for any party to remain viable politically but the conservative solutions that will help the black community must be done outside of a political party. However, to stop the systemic damage done by the politicians, the black community must elect new leaders, Democrat or Republican, that espouse conservative values to lift the community out of poverty. It seems like I am saying vote Republican because there are no Democrats espousing conservative values and only a few Republicans. I would much rather black people abstained for one election and demanded that both parties earned their vote instead of taking it for granted.

The solution is beyond politics. However, politics is part of the problem and the political ideology creates the system in which the black community exists and that system falls squarely at the feet of the Democrat party. So, vote or do not vote, it is conservative values that will save the black community. But the system that has been built by Democrats to destroy the black community since slavery must be dealt with one way or another. Vote for a conservative Republican or vote for Democrats that have conservative values. Who cares what party they are as long as they are conservative.

  41. Aaron King – You're right. The true definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing over and over, and expect different results. You can say the same thing about conservatives. They've been selling the same message for 8 decades and finding a new Black person to read the script, thinking that somehow they're gonna win over more to their side. Yet, they only got 6% of their vote come election time in 2012 and that number didn't fluctuate much during the midterm. Pot meet kettle.

  42. Aaron King says:

William Green …..well said Mr. Green. Well said. I have been beaten up enough in here. I have been trying to convey the same message, but don't quite have the life experience to draw on like you do.

  43. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison Look at the insanity thing this way. One group has been following the conservative values for 8 decades and another has been rejecting conservative values and following liberal values for 8 decades. Which one is better? Look at Detroit 8 decades ago and look at it today after liberal values. All cities that were once booming and are ghost towns today are controlled by liberals after adopting liberal policies. So for these people to continue to vote liberal is the definition of insanity.

This is an oversimplification because there were several factors that lead to factories leaving but the inability of the city to rebound after decades and totally become a total wasteland can be placed squarely on liberal policies that destroy businesses and communities.

If the conservatives have been saying the same thing for 8 decades and they are doing 100 times better, then the people that have been failing for the past 8 decades should take notes and quit rejecting what's working. That is the funny thing about traditional values that work. They never change. Liberals are always progressing because they have to constantly reinvent themselves because people eventually see through the lie. The only problem is that it is a new lie told by the same people for the last decade. Take climate change or global warming or global cooling for example. That lie changes every 15 years. In the seventies, I was told that the world would freeze over. Then we were told by Gore in the 90's that the world would heat up. Now we are being told by Obama that the climate will change. Different lie. Same liberals. Maybe the insane people need to start listening to traditional truth from some new people instead of old lies from the same people.

  44. William Green – Once again, proving my point when I said, "Most conservatives look at the issue through an ideology of superiority. They view others that don't look, act or talk like them as people who need to be 'saved' and need to be set on the right path." Conservatives are not doing "100 times better" than anyone. But I'm sure you need to believe that in order to continue this fruitless discussion. I'm about to write you off as just being a troll because you haven't even tried to change your tune.

Understand that you cannot convince me that any "party" can solve these systemic problems, so the more you try to the more you enforce every observation I presented on this board. And I don't care if you hate "liberals". Your actions are precisely why most minorities don't vote the way you'd want them to. They don't wanna hear that BS. Again, just an astute observation.

  45. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison OK. Let's just do this. Let's agree to disagree. However, I must say that it has been great debating with you for real. You have been courteous and stuck to the issue. You seem like a nice person. Thanks for being nice even though we disagree. That is a rare thing these days.

  46. You got kids who can hop on bikes in the dead of night to come to a crime scene but can't make your way to a library when the sun is up. I don't buy it. And as for failing schools, I say this. The schools are failing because the kids don't wanna learn and parents don't care about their education. Because I've worked in the school system and I can tell you for a fact that the students who wanna learn and make something of themselves are gonna come and do what they gotta do and educate themselves. Those who don't want nothing, will discourage others, disrupt the learning process for other kids who wanna learn and be something in life. Bottom line is this: Life is all about choices. Those who wanna be something are gonna do what it takes, and the those who don't simply are not. And ad for crime and violence and despair those are also choices too. You can sit around and feel sorry forgot yourself or can decide to roll up your sleeves and go to work and build your life. The choices is yours.

  47. @Kelsey Anderson Blacks are looking (begging) whites who are responsible for the destruction of the black community, to fix the problem, hell they (whites) are the problem! "A people that wont treat you right, will NOT teach you right!" So yes YOU are correct!

  48. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison ….Perhaps try viewing this from some other perspective than "who minorities should vote for." I think the most important thing would be to embark on a different path that leads those at the bottom of the economic ladder out of poverty…regardless of their race. The democrat handbook hasn't worked so far…..

We all know that politicians are self serving for the most part, and honest brokers that truly represent the will of the people are few and far between. Take a hard look at Ben Carson. I think he brings a fresh perspective to the table.

  49. Aaron King – What makes you think that I or any other black person hasn't been "viewing this from some other perspective"? Because I don't agree with you? Again. just reinforcing my point. "Most conservatives look at the issue through an ideology of superiority. They view others that don't look, act or talk like them as people who need to be 'saved' and need to be set on the right path."

Always assuming that you are more informed and better than the person you're debating. You and William will never understand why conservatives have failed to grasp the lion's share of minority votes for almost a century. Your arrogance speaks volumes.

  50. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison I have tried to bow out gracefully. However, I must address a point that you continue to make. Let me make it clear. Conservatism IS superior to liberalism. Everywhere liberalism is completely applied, it has failed. I challenge you to find anywhere that conservatism has failed when not corrupted by liberalism. Find one city run by conservative principles that is a total ghost town. There are several examples in America where a city was totally destroyed by liberal policies that have driven away businesses and destroyed whole communities. When I say conservatism, I mean socially, economically, militarily and politically. The only time we find ourselves in trouble is when conservatives make the mistake of listening to the whining liberals.

Regarding not gaining ground with minorities for the last 60 years (not 100), that is the fault of the black community. Take abortion for example. Abortion was founded by Margaret Sanger for the express purpose of genocide against the black race. Up until Jesse Jackson and others were paid off, abortion was opposed by the black community because they understood the purpose of Planned Parenthood. Is it the fault of the conservative anti-abortion message that seeks to limit or eliminate abortion to end the genocide or the black people that believes the lie of the liberals that abortion is about women's right to choose.

Look at another conservative issue; school choice. The liberal NEA union does not want school choice. Therefore the black schools suffer. However conservatives would like the kids in the inner city to have the ability to choose better performing schools. What does a liberal president do the first week in office, end school choice in DC. The movie Waiting for Superman shows how desperate the situation is in the inner cities. Is it the conservative's fault that the black community choose the very same bureaucracy that is destroying their child's future and refuse solutions to help their kids?

There is nothing wrong with the conservative message. The problem is that the black community has refused the conservative message. The message has not changed. It was once a message that was championed by the black community because we understood that government dependence could not be trusted. The black community changed starting with the "Great Society" designed by Lyndon Johnson who said he would "get the n****gers to vote Democrat for the next 200 years". So by my math, the black community has about 140 more years to go unless we wake up.

Finally as the chairman of the Montgomery County Minority GOP, I have gone into the black community and tried everything I could to get the conservative message out. We have had open forums, been on radio and TV, visited churches and schools and still no one shows up. We have been called every name under the sun. We have been called sellouts, Uncle Toms and other vile names. They say to a white person that there are no black people. They say to a black person that they want to see white people then they know that the GOP supports us. Then when both black and white show up, they still do not listen. So, the fact that the message is not accepted is not the problem of the conservatives. The problem as I stated earlier is that they would rather believe a new and improved lie from liberals to keep them in bondage than old tried and true conservative values, such as hard work and personal responsibility, that got us through the tough times in the past.

Darn Skippy conservatism is superior to liberalism. If the black community is drowning in liberal policies, then why complain when anyone is willing to throw them a life raft of any kind. At the very least grab hold to the first thing that floats and look for something better later. Until that happens, the black community has no one to blame but ourselves. When the black community is ready, they will listen.

Yet Inherited from Clinton w/ Larry Summers
    1) Deregulation of Wall Street via (Repealing Glass Steagall Act that kept Commercial Bank separate from Investment Banks) THUS allowing banks to make risky investment with people bank account money

    2) (UNDER CLINTON)
The proposed Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999 would do away with restrictions on the integration of banking, insurance and stock trading imposed by the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, one of the central pillars of Roosevelt's New Deal. Under the old law, banks, brokerages and insurance companies were effectively barred from entering each others' industries, and investment banking and commercial banking were separated.

In 1995 Clinton loosened housing rules by rewriting the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods. It is the subject of heated political and scholarly debate whether any of these moves are to blame for our troubles, but they certainly played a role in creating a permissive lending environment. Since that happen people blame Bush for much of that when Bill Clinton fault, not to mention Clinton's Fair Housing Act. Basically open the flood gates to predatory home lending. No Job No Problem!! You work at Mc Donald's you approved for a $300,000 house!

  53. Steve Trader Foxx says:

Jobs (particularly factory jobs for black men) in America are gone, maybe for many decades to come, probably forever. China makes everything you buy and consume now. The government and big business aren't coming to rescue you. If they were so inclined, They would have done so by now. The sooner we black men come to grips with this fact, the sooner we can devise another plan to support our families. There is something better than a job waiting for us.

  54. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison …I can't hold a candle to William Green's response. I'll just take a step back and see how you handle that one.

  55. Aaron King says:

William Green …thanks for your spirited rebuttal. I have no words.

  56. Maybe in your community Orlando; but not all. Many public schools have been closed in the city of Newark and you still have some children who are out of school as of today due to limited seating, our government placed who he wanted as the Superintend for the Newark Board of Education and this is her idea of fixing the problem. As a community many meetings were held trying to get her out before it even went this far and the "losers amongst blacks" as you call them had no power to do it alone. Many libraries have closed down in Newark as well so speak for your community only. No one is born angry or violent there is a reason for every action!!!

  57. Jo Ca says:

    El Amin Hassan

Hahahahaha!!! It is what it is. Most of the ones standing around, harassing the woman do NOT have a job and they have all the time in the world to bother this woman. Blacks and Mexicans are MUCH more aggressive around white women than the majority of white men are. Sorry feminists, but you trying to prove that the whitey man is the cause for all these sort of problems, is completely false. I understand that a big city like NYC is diverse. Perhaps you should take this to a majority white city like Boise or Cheyenne and maybe you'll get to prove your point. But I doubted. Your hired lady will be walking the streets for 10 hours, getting nothing but sore feet.

  58. Jo Ca says:

Peter Ramsey a simple formula emerges that helps explain the conundrum of blacks:
    Low
Impulse Control + Poor Future Time-Orientation + Low IQ (x) jury
nullification (black political control) = Blacks in 2014. It's this
formula that helps drive down property values and convince owners of
    capital to invest elsewhere.

    It's this formula that helps
explain why "primal anger over dubious acts of disrespect" is unweaving
the fabric of civilization in Black neighborhoods. "Disrespected" over a
guest leaving your cookout early? So you shoot him? This is the
rational for your typical black homicide. When the black proportion of
any organized community reaches 10% (?), said community will experience a
disparate proportional decrease in safety and productive economic
activity. I now understand that this “disrespect” thing is ubiquitous in
the black psyche. How it got there is anybody’s guess. Blacks seem to
fail to grasp that respect is earned and common decency is a door that
swings both ways. That if you give no common decency why should you
think that you should get common decency?

  59. Corigan Malloy says:

right on Guenevere, Kimberley, and Peter.

  60. I don't think my generalization has to do with the specifics of your experiences

  61. After slavery there were no jobs. People didn't have locks, and burgular bars on doors and windows.

  62. Donielle Owens says:

Aaron King I'm neither angry nor bitter. And I'm definitely not taking anything out of context. And I will go back to mines. If anything you are the one who is angry and bitter. Your on a black site with black liberals trying to convert us to people who hate us…. I will go back to my happily married – no foodstamp – no welfare – own my own business – and have a job life… AND YOU JUST GO GET A DAMN LIFE.

  63. Donielle Owens says:

There is no need to skew the data. If Higher Crime Rate Linked To Low Wages And Unemployment then that means that the problems in the black community are directly a result of systematic prejudice. Thanks for proving the point.

    http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2441472

  64. Donielle Owens says:

Why do we have do defend our "losers among black people" that's the whole problem. I will defend black losers when yall start defending white losers. You know what I'm talking about. All those white people living in trailer parks on Jerry Springer. You know Honey Boo Boo types, drinking beer, driving drunk, letting molesters hang around their overly made up trampily dressed kids. You know the ones having backyard blood fights… You know the ones drinking PBR with meth labs in their back yards. You know the ones shooting up schools… You know the ones shooting up movie theaters.. You know the ones riding around in motorcycle gangs… You know the rich ones that take off their fake legs and throw them at people.. You know those white losers. They are all over the place. But for some reason we don't talk about them. We don't go out of our way to profile them? We don't send them to jail forever? We don't see them all over the news? Why is that?

  65. Donielle Owens says:

Oh and as for public school is free like every school is so great. I will tell you this. Last year my youngest child had NO PERMANENT TEACHER ALL YEAR…. every week she had a new substitute. She passed but now her learning is a year behind because of it. She was grade level going in now she's not. I have my own business and a day job. My husband works 10 hours a day, and switching schools is not an option as you may or may not know a woman was recently sentenced to 5 years for sending her child to a better school. Just because it's free doesn't mean it's any good. And all education is not created equally. I'm just hoping that this year we can afford to put the kids in this program that will cost 15,000 each. Because the public schools here are NOT the answer.

  66. Aaron King says:

Donielle Owens Scroll down and try your best to take on William Green. He will set you straight. I don't have the life experience he does in order to properly articulate what needs to be said. He does.If you are still a liberal after reading his posts, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

  67. William Green – "Curtis Atchison I have tried to bow out gracefully. However, I must address a point that you continue to make. Let me make it clear. Conservatism IS superior to liberalism."

Let me make something even more clear. Just because you say it and used some words in CAPS doesn't change the fact that you're incredibly bigoted on a political level, therefore your analysis on what's going on in a community that I belong to is a load of BS. You wasted your time with all of that psychobabble about how great you think conservatism is, because quite frankly I don't care if you're more of a liberal or a conservative. I also don't care if you think Republicans or Democrats are the best things to the world. Again, I just want to solve problems and provide no helpful or insightful information to the problems presented by Michelle Alexander. Instead, you engage in the typical partisan BS of assuming that people who don't look, think or talk like you on a political level are not intelligent enough to make their own decisions. Once again, reinforcing my point with every ASCII letter you type – "Most conservatives look at the issue through an ideology of superiority. They view others that don't look, act or talk like them as people who need to be 'saved' and need to be set on the right path."

If you have nothing more to say allegorically or contextually, then just bow out. I don't care if it's graceful or not. But I'm proud to know that I'm not blindly loyal to any one party. Too bad a bigot like you is.

  68. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison Bigot. That is funny. Is that like the go to move for all liberals. Is that supposed to make me feel bad and shut up. Please. You will need to do better than that. That is so funny. Come up with a new insult. But don't worry. They are focus grouping a new insult. That one has just about run it's course.

If believing that conservatism is superior to liberalism makes me a bigot, then I wear that badge proudly. With all of your insults, you have yet to provide one example of unchecked liberalism being applied in places like Detroit or Chicago has resulted in a better way of life for its inhabitants. Until then, the results of conservatism is superior to liberalism.

So if mentioning that inconvenient truth makes me a bigot then so be it. So, why don't you stick to the facts and solutions and refrain from the personal attacks and name calling, another tired and worn out tactic. If you have not noticed, I was insulted and beat down by the best in boot camp so you will need to step your game up. Try facts. That tend to work in a debate of ideas. Name calling is childish and ineffective when dealing with a black conservative that is used to arguing with a room full of irate liberals threatening bodily harm.

C'mon man. You are better than that. 🙂

  69. Aaron, I'm neither angry or bitter. My wife and I are both retired military. I have a successfully career writing, developing, and instructing Budget and Financial Management for the Government (and I know how funding works). I am involved church, and youth activities…., but I am sad that poeple say blacks destoy their communities, when all the assests are pulled (not funding), or when a friend of mine moves into a neighborhood and pipe bomb is thrown through her window because of the color of her skin. She lost her hand trying to save her children. So guess what, she moved back where could be near poeple of her own color.

  70. Donielle Owens says:

Aaron King You nor William Green can set me straight as I am already straight. You CLEARLY DON'T HAVE A LIFE. As you are on a site with people who don't agree with you trying to convince them of your side. I don't have TIME to go on Fox News site and argue with racists as I have a life. Like I said you're on here acting like a Jehovah's Witness. I live a conservative lifestyle (married with kids a job and a business), but I am not a conservative because I am an American and it's unAmerican to sit up and try to force your beliefs on other people, which is EXACTLY WHAT CONSERVATIVES DO THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH. Remember, we live in the land of the free. Maybe you need a second job, or from the way you're acting a first job, because you have wayyyyyyyy toooooo much free time. Go to Fox News, you will find a million people on there who agree with you. Why do you feel the need to have me agree with you? Why are you trying to convert me? Why would I want to go read comments from someone who isn't talking about ANYTHING I want or need to hear? If you cannot articulate it yourself then maybe you need to just shut up about it already… If you want me to vote republican why don't you supporters of republicans stop saying racist things all the time. If you go to Fox News, Brett Bart and the like you will see the comments full of racist statements, they can hardly contain themselves. Next you are going to ask me to join the Klan. Sorry, but it AIN'T gonna happen. REPUBLICANS ruin EVERY CHANCE THEY HAVE TO GET MY VOTE…. IN 2000 (during the primaries) I was amped up and ready to vote for John McCain, but apparently he wasn't racist enough at the time so he got crushed during the primaries, and YOU GUYS VOTED BUSH IN……. FAST FORWARD 2008 McCain (who has a child of color) turns into a COMPLETE A$$ JUST to please YOU GUYS….. SAME THING FOR ROMNEY…. NOBODY MAKES REPUBLICANS SAY OFFENSIVE THINGS THEY JUST KEEP DOING IT. SO IF YOU WANT ME TO VOTE REPUBLICAN…. Stop sending representatives who RUN ON HATE. THAT IS ALL CAUSE I HAVE WORK TO DO..

  71. Jo Ca and Kelsey Anderson Who in Hell (America) and the rest of the world do YOU think is responsible for OPPRESSING all the black brown red and yellow people? And it sounds like you haven't read Michelle Alexanders book "The New Jim Crow" which the facts clearly state "WHITES" are responsible NOT any other people BUT whites! So what are you TWO basing your statements off of? I was agreeing with your first post which the only way for us blacks to get out of this problem is to rely on our people alone. And Kelsey you said it yourself, "WHITES" do not care! So I don't get your response, the only thing I can think off is that you and the other lady are not old enough to understand history for I have come to know that this younger generation were not taught the truth of what reality is from the past to the present. If one has not read basic books that's required reading for one to begin to have an UNDERSTANDING to the issue of WHITE SUPREMACY then one is lost! In my comment I was referencing a history book called "The Destruction of Black Civilization" by Chancellor Williams which HISTORY clearly shows and proves that the White man and woman are the only ones responsible for Murder and oppression around the world!

  72. First of all, who ever you are, you're looking for a place to direct your anger, and you use anything as an excuse. The comment I made did not warrant you be that damn condescending. I am reading her book now, but how would you know this from a simple Facebook post. Go attend therapy, facebook isn't the place.

  73. Aaron King says:

Donielle Owens ……..You're living a "conservative lifestyle." You do realize that we are in complete agreement now. The point of my original post that you replied to had nothing to do with voting for a particular political party….it was about changing perspectives, as the "liberal progressive" victim mantra clearly hasn't resulted in anything productive for anyone in America, regardless of their race. I don't have a beef with you, we are like minded as it turns out.

Keep living your conservative lifestyle…it suits you well. Continuing to vote democrat isn't doing anyone any favors….especially those at the bottom rung of the economic ladder in our country……..your party of choice is advocating allowing untold millions more illegal immigrants to set down roots in our country which is going to take away jobs from those who need them…..

In closing, I have plenty to keep me busy. This is just a hobby for me, as debating helps to keep the mind sharp. As for a second job, yep, I'll be retiring in 6yrs and getting another job….and loving every minute of it.

    Enjoy your day….

  74. William Green – C'mon, man. Don't get mad if you fit the literary definition of an unfavorable word that properly describes you and your actions. You are politically bigoted. If you don't like me using that word to describe you, change your message. Furthermore, if you think the fact that LBJ said the word nigger is some indication that I should be showing a blind alliance to more conservative politicians, perhaps you should open your eyes and recognized that word was used more than sparingly across the board. What's next, dude, wanna bring up Lincoln freeing the slaves? How about lying about how conservatives passed civil rights laws when they were outnumbered by liberals in both the House & Senate? Should we ignore how some of the poorest states in the entire nation tend to vote conservatively, in response to the tired conservative jabs about Detroit & Chicago? The fact that you're a black conservative is not an issue to me. But unlike the black conservatives I can talk to and have a rational discussion, they don't go around on message boards pretending that they have all the answers or like their own party has more than its share of skeleton bones hidden in their closets.

Last time, chairman of the Montgomery County Minority GOP… the issue is your message. If you speak down to people on this board like the way you're trying to speak down to me, it's no wonder most black people think you're a joke. Try a bit more humility and tone down your inflated sense of pride. With only 6% of the national Black vote, you are in no position to preach.

  75. William Green – C'mon, man. Don't get mad if you fit the literary definition of an unfavorable word that properly describes you and your actions. You are politically bigoted. 76. Donielle Owens says:

Aaron King NO ONE IS GOING TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME BESIDES MY FAMILY…. I am fully aware of that already. Your problem is you have a certain set of beliefs about Democrats that is untrue. Most democrats live a conservative life we just want different things from our country than you do… We would like for there to be help for those that need it. We would rather our tax dollars go to help the poor than go to the rich. We would rather let gay people get married because we aren't scared of a boogey man. We would rather our tax dollars go to universal healthcare than to wars against other people. We would rather let women choose whether or not they want to have an abortion than force them to have babies that we will have to pay for. See my problem with your type of conservative is that you cannot seem to mind your own business. You want to force people to have babies, then you won't help them take care of them… Your type of conservative cannot seem to mind their own business.. See that's why your on a black site trying to tell black people what to do when my guess is you've never been to a black neighborhood a day in your life. So no we don't have that much in common… And for your information…. President Obama and the democrats have done plenty for me…. I will start with my student loans, which I have been able to get the payment lowered because of Obama and the democrats. Next, I will talk about the HARP, that has helped many of my friends and family keep the homes they worked so hard to get…. Next, I distinctly remember getting an EXTRA $40 ON MY CHECK FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BECAUSE OF OBAMA. NEXT, my employer is now giving my husband health insurance because of ObamaCare!!! Next, we can talk about the unemployment insurance I got because of Obama after Bush screwed up the economy and I got laid off from my job…. Also, I would like to mention that he hasn't sold off Social Security to the Wall Street big wigs like the republicans have wanted to do for so many years. Also, we can talk about how the stock market is up which is good for me personally because I work for a corporation, so if my employer is doing good they aren't sending my job off to another country. I can also remember being on foodstamps while I was working because I didn't make enough to feed my family…. So if I got them why would I not want others to get the same help I got. JUST SO YOU KNOW MOST PEOPLE WHO GET FOODSTAMPS ARE KIDS AND ELDERLY AND WORKING PEOPLE. My parents died before I had kids, and Bush was kind enough to screw stuff up to where I LOST MY JOB DIRECTLY DUE TO THE STOCK MARKET CRASH…. BECAUSE AS A MARKETING ASSISTANT AT THE COMPANY I WAS WORKING FOR … I WAS THE FIRST TO GO… THE THINKING BEING MY SUPERVISOR WOULD JUST NEED TO WORK HARDER TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE. DON'T GET IT TWISTED… I WILL NEVER BE CONSERVATIVE THE WAY YOU WANT ME TO BE…. I'M CONSERVATIVE IN THAT I WAS RAISED CORRECTLY…. BY A DEMOCRAT WHO GREW UP IN JIM CROW…. ONE WHO WORKED HARD EVERYDAY… BOTH MY PARENTS SERVED IN THE MILITARY…. PLEASE DON'T COMPARE YOUR FACISM TO MY CONSERVATISM. GET SOME MODERATES IN THERE AND MAYBE WE CAN TALK

JUST BECAUSE YOU OR I DON'T NEED HELP NOW DOESN'T MEAN WE WON'T EVER… AND I WANT THE HELP TO BE THERE IF I NEED CAUSE I PAY MY TAXES AND I SHOULD HAVE SOME SAY WHERE MY MONEY GOES.

  77. William Green – Yes, I said bigot. Do you know what the dictionary definition to that word is? Read it because it describes you and your actions literally on this board. Politically, you are bigoted. Don't get mad if I'm using an unflattering word to describe you, especially if the shoe fits. Change your message, watch your tone and be wary of your context and perhaps I won't have any reason to call you one.

And it appears you're now going down the usual conservative route by trying to drum up distorted half truths about our history and the current state of the nation to defend your political bigotry. For every "liberally ran" city that conservatives bring up to denounce liberal policies, there are "conservatively ran" states that liberals can bring yup to denounce conservative policies. You say Detroit & Chicago. I remind you that most of the Southern states are not doing so well either.

For every politician "on the left" that you can source saying the n-word or other racially insensitive comments, I can generate a long list of people from the right who do the same exact thing. But in this case, I'll go a step further and make reference to your own comments. For someone claiming to be black, you view the vast majority of them very poorly and negatively. You look down upon them, don't think they're too bright, and think you need to 'save' them from themselves. That's precisely why the vast majority of black people have rejected much of the conservative platform. Reel back your arrogance and learn to speak with more humility. Because with only 6% of the black vote in this nation siding with your views, you're in no position to preach.

  78. Donielle Owens says:

Aaron King And as far as illegal immigrants go…. EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THIS CONTINENT IS AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. If you aren't Native American youre an immigrant. Why on earth would I hate on someone coming to this country for a better life. To escape the violence or poverty. There is only 1 world and 1 race… that is the HUMAN RACE. So these fictitious borders we put up mean nothing. Those immigrants work hard for every penny. If an immigrant comes and takes your job you weren't doing your job.

  79. William Green says:

Curtis Atchison Well. It's been fun. I see that we can do this all day. So, I think we pretty much understand each other. Only time and experience will change our minds if ever. So, I wish you much success in all your endeavors and may God richly bless you and your family. I sincerely mean that. That's how I roll. Peace brethren.

  81. Peter Ramsey the fact is skin color doesn't matter. Conservatives seek respect and freedom for all, which will raise all good people. So, in a sense, you are right, because no conservative wants to single out blacks and treat them differently.

  82. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison …..now you have flown your true colors as a liberal progressive. Disagree with someone…just label them a bigot to shut them up. The fact that you are trying to paint William Green as a bigot, albeit a "political one," is beyond the pale. Good day sir……….you may now return to your angry bitter existence.

  83. Aaron King – As much as you'd like to believe that, the fact is that I'm not a "liberal progressive". I'm not ignorant to history. And yes, William Green is the dictionary description of a political bigot. You should know because you are too. Look up the word and get over it. Or, change your message.

  84. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison ….My message is simple. Today's democrat party has been hijacked by liberal progressives. They aren't interested in creating conditions that actually give people a better chance to succeed. Rather, their goal is to create, and maintain a permanent underclass of various types of victims that believe if the government can redistribute enough income from the producers to the takers, that their life will be complete. I reality, you can live off of other people's crumbs for a good portion of your life, but when you hit 50, you realize that the crumbs you have been living off of don't include any type of a retirement plan. You keep believing in the liberal myth….good luck with that. While you may be able to provide for yourself, there are many who don't get it, and will choose to keep hitting that government pipe. They will find out too late what is really going on.

  85. Kelsey Anderson I wasn't being condescending I was responding to the post and your post because I thought your first post was correct. As far as me being angry which you said I was, I was not angry, I was just expressing myself like any person on an open forum is free to do. Maybe you are the one that is angry which I find most of our black women are today and quick to throw an INSULT around like you just did, so who is the one that needs therapy? I knew that you hadn't read Michelle's book from your comments and also the other lady which it appears she hasn't read the book either, but that can be a typical thing which people tend to debate/argue over topics in which they are not studied in/on. I'm a very friendly person and very compassionate about what effects all of my people, blacks, so please don't take what im saying as if it was an attack on you or the other lady it was never intended to be received in that manner. Im really confused why we are even discussing this instead of what Michelle's post is about!

  86. Aaron King – Your message is tired, bigoted and pathetic. What Michelle Alexander is describing is a system that was created by both liberals and conservatives alike. Politicians across varying ideologies and party affiliations have contributed to this mess. So waving your foam finger for being a diehard conservative is stupid. And trying to typecast me as being a "liberal" to maintain your political bigotries is also stupid.

  87. Aaron King – The government is SUPPOSED to do things that benefit citizens. With the right politicians in place making the laws, we can make the government do more for us. In countries that are more socially forward than our own, this is already happening (the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, etc). Not only that, citizens are still granted plenty to leeway to "do what they want to do". That means, if you, personally, do not want to rely on specific governmentally provided services you have every right to go private. But that doesn't mean you or anyone else should do whatever you feel to deny help to other people who may need these services out of some twisted belief that you think you know what's good for them. Keep in mind, none of the countries I mentioned are Socialist nations (by literal definition), despite conservatives here in America who will jump up and down and associate the government doing anything besides defend a citizen's right to act foolish as being "socialist".

This is all determined by how we get our government to use revenues generated by the government. Right now, so much of it is going towards things like the military (which we spend more on ours than the next 10 countries combined) and the most wealthiest of corporations through tax cuts & other incentives. Some companies that should be paying their portion of that 24% in federal taxes find ways to avoid paying a dime and still get additional kickbacks from the government which could have been used for programs that help regular citizens directly. With a more realistic look on our nation's needs and an electorate that is not so self centered, we could be forcing our government to benefit all.

Ultimately, this is where a lot of the liberal/conservative bickering is rooted. You have one side that recognizes that the government works for us and should be doing more for us. The other is so convinced that they're entirely self sufficient that they block attempts to make government do anything, while simultaneously try to tell others (by using economical & social smokescreens) to "follow their lead". A classic misunderstanding, perpetuated for centuries, and propagated by greedy politicians who simply indoctrinate citizens into believing that it's either "their way" or "no way". When in reality, somewhere in the middle is an answer that makes much more sense.

  88. Donielle Owens says:

Im not going to reply anymore as Chris said it all. The government is what the prople make it and Republicans make it fucked up. End of story. Oh and Bush definitely fucked up the economy. TWICE. First time September 11, 2001. Again in 2007. I was a finance major, I know what happened.

  89. Donielle Owens says:

The rich require our tax breaks. They benefit from our roads and sidewalks a customers use them to get to their locations. Our schools give them competent workers. One government pays for their workers foodstamps, as most fail to pay a living wage. Our police come to arrest thieves and trespassers on their p roperty. Our post office delivers their mail. Our fire department puts out thier fires. I can go on but you get the drift. We live in a society. No one does anything by themselves. If they did we wouldn't have money.

  90. Donielle Owens says:

AND WE ARE A GLOBAL RACE. IF WE WERE NOT WE COULD NOT BREED TOGETHER. BUT AS A REPUBLICAN you don't understand science I forgot

  91. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison …..when people finally figure out that THEY ALONE are in control of their own destiny, and that where they end up in life is not in any way tied to what SOMEONE ELSE or the GOVERNMENT can do for them, only then will prosperity and happiness make itself known to them. Institutional racism is a thing of the past my friend, and those that dwell on it, and propagate it are likely the ones that profit off of it the most (Jackson, Sharpton, Farakhan). Sometimes I get lost in the weeds trying to explain myself, but this is the bottom line of my message.

  92. Aaron King – "When people finally figure out that THEY ALONE are in control of their own destiny, and that where they end up in life is not in any way tied to what SOMEONE ELSE or the GOVERNMENT can do for them, only then will prosperity and happiness make itself known to them"

You're starting to sound psychotic now. You've taken an allegorical message of self sufficiency too literally and now actually believe most of the garbage you type. Remember how much you're "in control" of your own life next time you leave your home and go to wherever you choose in order to perpetuate such a delusion. Your comments about racism are equally delusional. But then again, I'd expect people like you to regurgitate such nonsense. Please don't tell me you're going to resort to distorted biblical verses next… (roll eyes)

  93. Aaron King says:

Donielle Owens …generalities are not going to suffice. You are just a bunch of hot air spewing liberal tired talking points about bush ruining the economy. LET'S HEAR SOME FACTS MS. FINANCE MAJOR? that shouldn't be too difficult for you.

  94. Aaron King says:

Curtis Atchison ….self sufficiency? Yes, that is me in a nutshell. I have been making it happen my entire life, which is why I will retire in 5yrs with a 6 figure income, and go on to obtain ANOTHER 6 figure job. Yes, I am a true believer. Considering where I started, and where I am now, I have proven it over and over and over that I control my own destiny. I have suffered many setbacks in life, but I haven't let any of them stop me. I have conquered many peaks, but have also trudged through many valleys in order to reach the next summit. It is one's ATTITUDE that determines how far, and how high you can go in life. If you let others control your destiny, regardless of what roadblocks may be in your way, you are just a fool.

So, let's just throw out the politics for a minute, because in the end, they don't matter. What matters is MINDSET. If you have the right mindset, nothing can stop you. If you listen to people like you, well….gonna be a long tough haul.

Delusional? Get over it dude. I live in the real world, the one I have made for myself. Take your socialist talking points and stick it.

  95. Lol, I would respond to the details of your post, but I really don't find anything you're saying valid. I don't need to defend myself against someone so neurotic. You're just an asshole.

  96. Aaron King – No, it's not. Again, you've taken an allegorical message of self sufficiency too literally and now actually believe most of the garbage you type. But whatever. I don't have time to watch you beat your chest by way of ASCII over how dominant of a male you think you are all because you "vote conservative". And now you sound bitter because I dared to challenge you on that.

You're the one that needs to get over it. But please remind me, aren't we supposed to be talking about Michelle Alexander's informative video and not making about your insecurities as part of the male species?

  97. Donielle Owens says:

Remember when Bush came in and cut taxes for the wealthy I do because my taxes went up not down under Bush. Remember how he did that so called stimulus that we had to pay back. It was 300 for singles. I do. Now understand this. The tax cuts created budget problems for the long term which resulted in lots of funding cuts across the board. Oh I almost forgot the terrible changes in the bankruptcy laws, which is another issue itself. 911. Oh that was all him. Remember, he knew about it, or at least he was told… the brief remember. … i cant even list the impact 911 had on on our ecenolmy. From the destruction of the airlines which has led to the monopolies we have today. talk about how the wars in Iran and Iraq and how is and our children will be paying for that. Lets talk about gas prices under Bush. I bought a brand new car that year and it held 9 gallons of gas. Where I lived at the time gas was 99 cents. When Bush left it was 4 dollars. 4 DOLLARS!!!!! OH MY POCKETBOOK SAYS BUSH SCREWED THE ECONOMY.

  98. Donielle Owens says:

Aaron King instead of posting facebook pages of the 8 black republicans out there, all of which I consider tokens btw. Why don't you name 5 things republicans have done to eliminate or lessen poverty and unemployment in American? Tell me how can politicians who pride themselves on sending jobs to other countries now help bring them back by driving all of our wages down and getting rid of social services and cutting education. How does that help the BLACK COMMUNITY? TELL ME THAT. IN YOUR OWN WORDS… WITHOUT LINKS…. IF YOU BELIEVE IT EXPLAIN.

  99. Great information..my question: Why must we wait for others to provide us with opportunities…we are more than capable…the world is waiting for us to wake up…YES WE CAN…AND WE MUST!

  100. *There were only 12 Bush years, not 16.
    *Cauldron
    *"toe the line"
    Etc…..
    And "so called fake"?

  101. Ted Jones says:

Nafta was passed with a Democratic President, a Democratic majority in the Senate and a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. Yet the Dems are always saying that they are Standing Up For Working Families!

  102. Frank McKoy Jr. says:

They found themselves jobless because they wanted a check but didn't want to lift a finger to earn it so companies had to find another way to increase production.

  103. It's very important that black folks understand that the facts that Michelle are talking about happened under, and with conservative and democratic policies. Right wing or left wing, same white supremacist bird. H Rap Brown was right about voting and politics under this system, it should be viewed as a way to rally black folks, a tactic or strategy, not the end all be all.

  104. Kelsey Anderson This is a forum where we discuss adult topics, if you cant conduct yourself like an adult with proper language, then please don't respond, for you are using immature language, not once did I through any insults at you but you continue too. I think you are the one who has anger problems! Good day!

  105. Anthony Stevens says:

Aaron King How about the fact that you're just not as intelligent OR articulate as Mr. Green. Did that possibility EVER occur to you? Yes or no, please. No need for your notorious double talk.

  106. Anthony Stevens says:

James Shefchik Oh, so you personally know all of the conservatives?

  107. Anthony Stevens says:

Aaron King You don't have the intelligence to express yourself like Mr. Green. Just admit it. LOL!!!

  109. Aaron King says:

    Charles Butler, talk radio host:

The fact is President Obama will do with the stroke of a pen what 300 years of slavery, Jim Crow and legal segregation could not: destroy the hopes and dreams of millions of black Americans. His position on illegal immigration and reform is not tenable given the numerous sources of information that warn of the negative impact of immigration reform on black Americans and low-income Americans.

  110. Aaron King says:

Christopher Arps, founder of the black social networking web site Move-On-Up.org:

Mr. President, how do these people “get right with the law” when you have to break the law to allegedly get them right with the law?

Ronald Reagan and George Bush used executive orders to tweak immigration law, but it was within the framework of the 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli amnesty law that was passed by Congress.

As a student of politics and history, I’ll unfortunately be able to tell my grandchildren that I lived through America’s early 21 century experiment with a lawlessness extremely left-wing president. This man — a self-professed constitutional scholar — is so brazen that he’s openly violating the Constitution he swore to protect. And he’s doing so just a few years after he said he didn’t have the authority to do what he just did on immigration.

    Unbelievable!

  111. Aaron King says:

    Stacy Washington, talk radio host:

Well, black liberals, sorry — but I have to put you on blast.

Every time this country has pardoned illegal immigrants, crime and black unemployment have gone through the roof. Don’t believe me? Check the statistics from Reagan’s congressionally-approved amnesty package. Not only did three times as many illegal immigrants as were promised become legal through the undiscovered intricacies of chain immigration, but the crime rate soared and black unemployment went through the roof.

Sorry again, black liberals. You just got dumped!

  112. Aaron King says:

Joe R. Hicks, former executive director of the Greater Los Angeles chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference:

President Obama strode into the White House promising to give the American people the audacity of hope. What we are witnessing instead, with his immigration agenda, is an audacious grab for power and an evisceration of the Constitution.

Having kicked the can down the road, obviously refusing to ruin his own chances for re-election in 2012, and tap-dancing on the issue until after the 2014 mid-term elections, Obama now disdainfully punches the amnesty card for upwards of five million illegal residents with the knowledge that almost half of all Americans polled oppose his maneuver.

With the stroke of a pen, Obama rewards those who arrogantly mock our border laws while simultaneously telling those hopeful immigrants still waiting patiently to lawfully come to America that they are chumps.

After these five million or so, what then? The magnet that draws illegal immigrants across the border just got stronger. They will come expecting, — no, demanding — to get “Obama’s amnesty.”

In 2010, defending his inaction on immigration issues, Obama said, “I’m president, I’m not king. I can’t do these things just by myself.” That’s all changed, and the Constitution lies in tatters as a result.

  113. Mary K Bruzek says:

You don't think lack of jobs effect whites as well? What world do you live in?

  114. Steve Trader Foxx says:

Mary K Bruzek Please check the title of the video post. It says, "Michelle Alexander Precisely Describes How Black People Are Systematically Driven to Violence and Despair."

    The magazine masthead reads "AlantaBLACKStar."

Of course, the lack of jobs affects all people, most particularly black people who are the last hired and first fired. My point is this, we black people, men, should stop waiting for the government and well meaning white people for help. We can help ourselves.

If your point is to throw a red herring into the mix, please understand, I am not interested in games.

  115. K Sanford Dunbar Sr. says:

Peter Ramsey , good call… we need to watch this Mia (Missing In Action) Love ! Black republicans are a slap in the faces of their American Black ancestors. finance committee Eh ! what a joke , she's being set up and don't have a clue.

  117. Michelle Alexander is making a good living talking and writing about the problems of black people; however, I’ve yet to hear her offer any solutions to any of the things she talks about or writes about. The fact is she's doing much more harm than good. Her speeches are geared to an audience of middle class blacks and whites who subconsciously find comfort in hearing how bad things are for black people and thanking God they aren't included in the category of those she's talking about. The other thing is that there is something called the "self-fulfilling prophecy"., which basically means whatever you think you are or led to believe (brainwashed) you are, you will surely become. This is not just me saying it, it's a proven fact. People like Michelle Alexander really don't want change for the better, nor do the people that listen to her. Pay attention black people; all of these so-called scholars, the Michelle Alexander’s, Cornel West's Travis Smiley's, Boyce Watkins, the media, and others like them are not your friends. They make a living by telling us how bad things are for us and how we're being victimized, and the more they tell us, the more we believe it and the more it becomes us.

  120. Jai Dillon says:

Wow, you petition white folks with such passion Michelle. Not that we should have taken responsibility for any of the things that you mention in your speech. White people should educate us (even though we don't have any interest in it en masse). White people should employ us (even though we're so often unemployable). White people should have kept the factories here for us. And while we've looked to rappers as our social leaders and promoted all sorts of violent, criminal, anti social behavior amongst each other, white people should do something? This is liberal entitlement drivel at it's absolute most pathetic. No wonder we can't have nice things.

  121. Jai Dillon says:

Sabrina Lee-Toots The schools in Newark, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, etc. that are closed, are closed because they were full of black kids who have no interest in education. Culturally we just don't! There was an experiment done for a few years in K.C. dumping more money into the schools and students than anywhere in the country. It was a total failure, the schools all closed and the kids get bussed to the suburban schools now, relying on the white kids to score high enough on the state tests to keep the schools funded. We can't do nothin right…. But blaming white people is very convenient.

And we just let this shit happen? Why? And then we sit around and blame white people!!! It's too much. We just think that white people should keep their factories here to employ our sorry asses? There are billions of dollars in cash and assets held by black entertainers, why don't we petition them to build factories for us to work in? And now the trend is "re-urbanization" which is code word for "your neighborhoods are being scooped up by hipster white guys with beards". No amount of petitioning white folks will stop that… Considering we've let them fall to blighted ghettos, what do we expect. Social services, section 8, public housing can all be set up in the burbs, ex-urbs, forest, desert, or anywhere else "they" want to put it. Urban property is going to be too valuable to have it be ghetto's. But we'll be thirty years behind on adjusting to this too.

  125. Jai Dillon says:

Angela Chieves There was very little "truth" to what she's saying other than replaying history and making it clear that we've missed the boat on many of the things happening in society, further putting us behind the 8 ball, due to a lack of foresight on our own part (thinking that white people would keep factory jobs around for us into eternity) while trying to make it seem like we are just helpless little creatures incapable of competing with the rest of society without the help of white people. Typical leftist/communist drivel.

  126. Sabrina, those schools closed because of poor performance and a lack of commitment to education. And they are not funded due to poor performance and the tax base is so low due to bunch of folks not working and doing nothing all day. I worked in Miami Dade county public schools for over six years and I can tell you this. The schools getting funded are the schools that produce results. And the kids who wanna learn and make something of themselves do their schoolwork, behave themselves, and stay straight. They make a conscious choice to do the right things and make the right decisions in life and they achieve success in all that they do. And and for libraries in Newark closing go to the libraries in the surrounding areas. Anything else is laziness and weak excuses. Excuses are tools of incompetence that build monuments to nothingness and bridges to nowhere. The black community in Chicago's west side funded a private school with 100 graduation to college rate for over 6years now. The parents, teachers, administrators, and surrounding community financed the school and continue to do so. The community fought long and hard to get it and still fight to keep it. Life is a fight for territory. It's only the strong men and strong women who fight for their lives and their children's lives. All that stuff about no power to do it alone and reasons for violence is the language of punks. That's weak, that's soft, and it's for losers. Words like "can't" , "no power ", and "reason" for every action are weak and soft and unacceptable. Those words don't belong in a man's vocabulary nor a woman's. Simple as that.

  127. Patricia Al-sharif says:

I don't think you have had the same experience that most black people have had. When a white person and a black person show up for the same job even thou he is probably more qualified that is proven in statistics.

  128. Jarrauri Wayne Curry says:

And neither are those like Rush, O'Reilly, or Beck. No one is offering solutions because half these fools in America fail to want to see the truth. Until you walk a mile in my shoes, you do not have authority to speak for me or anyone else. So stop with your bullshit rhetoric as if you have hindsight of the problem. What are your logical solutions to dismantle a system NEVER REFORMED to end systemic injustice, and rebuild one of greater equality? Ill wait…

  129. Jarrauri Wayne Curry , I'm confused as to who your comment is directed to. Couldn't be me because I don't talk about shit that I'm not willing to address. You sound like you could be Michelle Alexander or somebody speaking for her. Whatever the case, if you want a dialogue submit something that makes sense.

  130. Jai Dillon Of course does school closed down they were in deeply poverty and violent neighborhoods. The circumstances for those kids was not good enough.

  131. Jai Dillon Of course does school closed down they were in deeply poverty and violent neighborhoods. The circumstances for those kids was not good enough.

  132. I think we should take Alexander's comments for what they are. If she is inaccurate, correct her. If she is lying, tell us the truth but don't blame her for her being right. Your critique is just another rant in the time honored tradition of attacking the messenger. It really is a form of denial and that happens when accepting the truth means that we have failed as a society and that for all of our "leadership of the free world" BS, we have have yet to fulfill the promise of our ideals and our Constitution. Wake up James and be careful when you say truth tellers are not the "friends" of black people. You don't sound like much of a friend either.

  133. Randy Gani says:

Dear Friends Please let me know about this solution which we can implement today – #PledgeHighFive.
    http://unitingtheusa.blogspot.com/2014/11/high-five-movement.html

  136. Wow what a sad commentary. She does not address cultural issues like 75% of black children are born out of wedlock. It was 20% when Sen Moynihan warned about it in 1965 and he was branded a racist. The best opportunity for kids is having 2 parents inthe home. There are outliers though. She doesn't mention that now the most violent black men are 15-20 years olds who are armed with illegal weapons and high testosterone a recipe for violence. No mention of the gangsta culture that arose in the late 80s and gangsta music glorifying this lifestyle. Lack of factory jobs impacted middle class whites in these cities the same as blacks. Her solution is typical, more government. The government has spent trillions on Great Society, desegregation and other programs that have failed. Blacks and whites choose to self segregate esp on Sunday morning. There are cultural and biological differences and that is not good or bad just different. I don't know if the two can coexist in America.

  137. Do you really think those people locked up, are saying if only I went to a good school, or their was a job, I wouldn't deal drugs or rob or gang bang? That is easy fast money, they don't want education, or work, white or black, and generation after generation raise their children on government assistance, ( tax payer money, because they see their parents, not working, taking advantage of what they can, duping the system, it's learned, it only changes when one person decides they want better, break the cycle , go to school , get a good job make a better life, and teach their children to do the same.

  138. Truth is that you CAN NOT allways blame Others for the Evil Deeds you do! I am so sick and tired seeing Crack Dealers on my Roads etc….., most of them Black! There are good poor People as well.

  139. Stop blaming the white Men!! Many white People just wanna be left allone!! and have no dealers in their roads etc….. Many whites are content with a place to sleep a garden to grow and need no big luxury "cribbs" or cars

  140. WHat about Detroit where the REAL PEOPLE whether black or white just started organic urban gardens and feeding and building Communities? Take their Example and STOP allways blaming your white Neigbours…..Blame the opressive System but DO something to build Community.

  141. Black people can't blame white people for things? Don't be ridiculous Terry.
I'm a solutions focused person. Black people can complain about what white people have done for centuries, and rightfully so. But Black people need to work on fixing ourselves, because white society won't help, they're too busy pointing fingers. Black people can make better use of time than arguing with racists.

  142. But Black women are just fine when raising white babies?

Oh and don't conveniently forget that white people are they number one group on welfare

  143. Nu Bang Clan says:

Do you think black people created the situation that their in? That they decided to be unhappy and live in a broken system, that they came to this country by choice and set their own rules on their life in society? This has been cultivated for centuries, American society wasn't originally set up for black people, we were used as property and that's it.. We weren't brought over here to be equal citizens. And that's just one of many reasons on why things are the way they are..

  144. Lawrence Keeley says:

Bullshit you can't keep saying the same ol shit we have been spending billions on schools and black college crap. Quit stealing punks and get a fucking job like the rest of us!

  145. Through the Grape~Vine: A most intelligent observation… This nation's broadcasting media ought to get real, and keep it real! Only then, can we begin to advance beyond our flaws… Meanwhile, lets us continue to move in Radiant~Light, while nourishing FAITH in Living~Spirit… Elohim Is~ In All & through All… <> http://youtu.be/-TDfPgd3Kyc.

  146. Train young black males as servants? from an industrial based economy? To a Service based economy? Black men as servants? That kind of seems um……. BACKWARDS! Why not train (train a person? that's seems a bit derogatory… why not teach?) a black man into a technological economy?

  147. Black men are way past working for other people when are we allowed to be viewed as owners and proprietors.

  148. Shantae Pitts says:

As an African American teacher teaching in an African American school, I would have to agree. I love my people, but we have to do better. It starts at home.

  149. Shantae Pitts says:

I would have to agree and disagree. It's no secret having kids out of wedlock is not ideal, but neither is being married with a child, getting a divorce when the child is young and going off to live with your new wife and her kids while never really being involved with your very own. That happens a lot. Unfortunately, I had my son out of wedlock. I was 24 in graduate school. My son is in a "white" school system. He's in the gifted program and his performs in the top 5% on standardized tests. I value education so I pass that along to my son. He listens to rap music but he understands it's there for entertainment purposes only. We have white friends; we have black friends and there are no issues. Sometimes I agree with them, sometimes I don't. I value their opinion and they value mine, so living together is not a problem. I do however believe the issue is exposure. Kids learn from their environments. Even if you take a married couple who has a kid, but they raise their kid in a drug dealing environment, the kid just may be a drug dealer, because that's what the child knows.. This is all a product of Willie Lynch. It's sad but true.

  150. Vernon Harvey says:

I don't believe some of this foolish insane rheteric typing on the historic problems facing the state of black america. All those years of racial sepression and denial of basic human rights let alone civil rights and people arguing over who's at fault over freedom, and justice that people of African descent still don't have to this day. Let these problem become realized or forced on the mainstream populations and see how easy it would be to repair if the shoe was on the other foot.

  151. Kelsey Anderson I agree. Though I don't think Alexander is "blaming" white people because if she had used that sort of direct language, she would not have been giving these forums to voice her findings because I've observed that Black people who speak very directly about white supremacy (racism) are quickly silenced or marginalized by the status quo.

Anyways, I agree with you that, as Black people, trying to appeal to the conscience of whites is a dead-end game. They had 400 years to care.

I do not waste my time with that anymore like I used to back in the day.

With that said, however, as Black people we need to be aware of the internalized white supremacy that many Black people suffer from because of the historical trauma we've endured. The sooner we realize the psychological damage passed on through the generations, the quicker we'll heal as a people.

  152. Orlando, when a handful of people fall into the category you speak of, that's a personal problem. When it becomes dozens of people trapped in certain situation, that becomes systemic.

We can talk until the cows come home about personal responsibility, but Black people have never had a chance to heal as a collective from the trauma of Slavery, Jim Crow and continued marginalization.

Nobody asked for this shit, okay? Black people aren't some strange kind that we want to be lazier than everybody else, that we want to be crazier or more violent than any other group. Nobody wants that shit! Majority of us are trying to make it the best way we know how considering the circumstances, okay.

However, when there is trauma, historical and current, you'd be surprised what, otherwise sane, good people resort to.

  153. Exactly, Vernon Harvey.

I mean, our ancestors have been through some serious traumatic shit, and then in present day, we are still dealing with all sorts of state-sanctioned foolishness, yet they expect Black people to be perfect, have smiles on our faces everyday, and be these model citizens with no issues.

How is that possible, when there has not been any nation-wide effort yet to heal. We tried it with the Million Man March, which was excellent, but it was faced with fierce criticism.

Before we can even begin to address the issues Alexander brings up, we've got to heal first. This is not some religious or "spiritual" Oprah-speak. This is just basic group psychology. We need to face the racist/white-supremacist, historical trauma head on.

  154. I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO LISTEN TO THE VIDEO BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME. BLACKS DRIVEN TO VIOLENCE BEING THE TITLE STARTS OUT WRONG. WE NEVER FIGHT BACK. OUR CHILDREN ARE BEING KILLED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT IS THAT A REASON TO BE ANGRY OR DO MORE THAN MARCHING. THIS SITUATION IS DEATH NOT SITTING IN THE BACK OF THE BUS. I'M NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO ANOTHER EXCUSE AND WHATEVER MOVEMENT THAT IS MORE THAN WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING (MARCHING) IS GOT TO BE A START. BLACK AMERICANS BECAUSE OF OUR MIND SETS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE FREE FROM THE SITUATIONS OF OUR COMMUNITIES IT WILL TAKE ALL RACES ASSISTING US TO STOP THE VIOLENCE THAT IS DIRECTED TOWARDS OUR CHILDREN. BLACK AMERICA CAN NOT DO IT ALONE. THE THINKING IS REPETITIVE AND WILL NEVER CHANGE. ALL RACES TOGETHER FOR BLACK PEOPLE IS THE ONLY WAY.

  155. I personally believe the best way to handle Americas issues at hand, is to stop catagorizing the Jesus out of everything. Instead of saying "This is a black issue, this is a white issue" etc etc..
Its an American issue, people need to quit pointing fingers and just respect and help our fellow Americans regardless of what they look like.
Be the change you wish to see in the world, do unto others as you would have done unto you…

  156. Kala Genesis says:

You are speaking the truth. She sounds like one of these Black women who secretly hates Black people.

  157. Reggie Green says:

When we become business owner and black people folks start to support one another.

  158. Ms. Alexander is the Harriett Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and ALL Black Women who stood for the Advancement of People of Color; as well as- she's a Teacher to those who are EVIL, WICKED, and HATEFUL towards us as a people. She points out (Crystal Clear) how America has demonized US (ESPECIALLY Black Men) as the perpetrators of Blight communities, when in fact they created them. Then the new found way of cheaper labor was found abroad (outsourcing). Which enable them (white corporate America) to create a CORPORATE PENAL SLAVE SYSTEM OF LABOR, along with the allowing of ALL types of immigrants to come replace the Black/A.A in the labor sector. All was a reaction from the Powerful stand by the Civil Rights ERA of the Black/A.A.. The IRONY is that -all OTHERS who came after the fight we fought (Fair Housing, Voting Rights, Child Care, Preschool, etc.) are reaping the benefits of being treated as human beings, as well as being able to sustain employment. The lesson we ought have learned is that– in regardless of the Fight we Fought, those who are benefiting will not stand on the front line for ANY CAUSE that is relevant to the plight of Black/A.A to this day. Lets get OUR minds Right–so OUR children can live in PEACE.

  159. Chris Gray says:

Yeah I hear a lot of excuses, but some of them have some merit. I'm with you on the schools and libraries. Mostly what we need is good parenting skills in these areas. Latino children are growing up in these same communities now, but they excel academically because their parents push them. I blame it on a VERY liberal entitlement program that seems to samall rewards to people who just sit on their ass. That's the system that is eating our kids. We do a disservice to this cause when we omit our own contributions to this problem because much of this is an embraced subculture in the Black community.

  160. Mr Philip Battle aint nothing or no one keeping from any benefits but you. Cause all the black people I know benefit from the Civil Rights era everyday. I dont have a record, cause I dont commit crime, Im not a idiot. Life is all about choices. We all know right from wrong, illegal from legal, but some of us choose the wrong way anyway. Its a choice. You choose the behavior you choose the consequence, simple as that.

  161. Roger Williams thats bullshit. Trauma my ass. The people out committing crime aint thinking about slavery or Jim Crow. A person who robs and kills aint thinking about slavery, they can give a fuck about that. Millions and Millions of black people persevered and prospered in this country and still do in spite of Jim Crow and the legacy of slavery. Besides aint no one alive today from the Slave days. We got plenty of black people alive from Jim Crow. Countless African Americans succeeded growing up under Jim Crow, and they suffered racism and white supremacy its most extreme form and they made it. So if you aint making it whats your excuse. Excuses are tools of incompotence building monuments to nothingness and bridges to nowhere. Thats it.
