No not really, if you were born in America you're "American" or any other country that's what you would be considered in the real world by law, Haiti is a country and culture not a racial back round, If your parents was born in Haiti and they moved to the US then yes they are still Haitian, but if you were born here and you went to Haiti and said you were "Haitian" they would laugh at you.
Jonathan Alerte I work in case-management and meet with a diverse group of people on a daily basis. Family's of Italian decent will say they are Italian or Italian-American. Parisian, Irish, Polish, Greek etc will generally say the same thing. Haitian will say I'm American ignoring their cultural. I want my children who are born here to be proud of "who they are" Haitian American. They are born into a cultural that they need to embrace and be proud of. Most Haitian that say they are Americans instead of Haitians/ Haitian Americans are not proud of the fact that they are Haitian.
So if I was born in an African country and son was born in Germany….that would make him german???? But in the zoo they call the lion, african…..Anways ! Maxwell is mix with delicious and sexy
Pardon the ignorance…was just guessing! Ppl has this idea what Haitians r supposed to look like but visiting the country often recently I uncover lots beautiful ppl similar to u in that place. It was like
Jonathan Alerte I agree with you that being Haitian is not a racial background but not all countries grant you automatic citizenship just because you're born on their soil. Plenty of countries in the world will not grant you automatic citizenship, you are considered a citizen of the country where your parents are from. Some do allow you to apply for citizenship when you turn 18, France is one example I can think of. If your parents were born in Haiti or even just one of them, you are just as much Haitian as you are American and according to Haitian law you can even apply for a Haitian passport when you turn 18. In which case you would have dual citizenship.
Schella Vilme Zoe Saldana never mentions he Haitian roots she only mentions her mother who inspired her in the L'Oreal commercial. Why don't you provide a link because I can't find a video where she claims a "supposed" Haitian ancestry.
Jonathan Alerte UNFORTUNATELY, Haitians born in Dominican Republic are NOT considered Haitians. Some Haitians that are true-born Dominicans who have never traveled outside of their country of birth find themselves outsiders. Currently in court limbo…which makes me sad and disgusted as a Dominican 🙁
You can take the person out of the land but you can't take the land out of the person. I was raised in a household with two people from Saint Vincent; So, you're saying that my culture is American…, my birthplace was America not my roots
Haitian is Black regardless it's not a race. Plus, Haiti is on the same island as the Dominic Republic so that's why some people say they are Latino because they are embarrassed to be Haitian.
There are, indeed some nuances between the way Haitian-Americans think or behave in comparison with a Haitian who was born and raised in Haiti; nonetheless, these differences must not cause a Haitian-American to ignore or not acknowledge and celebrate his/her Haitian heritage. These Haitians who made you feel uneasy about you celebrating Haitian culture (unfortunately) did so out of ignorance and lack of understanding of the significance of transmitting, sharing and keeping (however much or little) of culture and heritage. (people often respect you more when you are not bashful and afraid to show pride and appreciation of/for your heritage).

@Gladimir Gla Chrispin I agree bc I was born there, but left as a baby with my parents. I was trick/sent back by my father to live with an great uncle for abt a year and a half when I was like 13, 14 yrs old for bad behavior. Even tho I was born and left as an infant. I was told numerous of time that I wasn't a real Haitian by pretty much the whole town
Jonathan Alerte Any child born from an american parent anywhere in the world is considered "American " .we haitian arbitrarely use the same system even though it isnt haitian law
I don't trust this article, Future stated on his breakfast club interview that he is not Haitian. He said that his Haitian friends and friends embraced him like he was family but he is not of Haitian decent
Please don't get it twisted people. Zoe is probably Haitian as Blake Griffin and Maxwell are French. A L'oreal commercial means very little. If we go by that then she's also Lebanese and Taino Indian.
Schella Vilme Yeah, and if we go by that commercial she's also Lebanese and Taino Indian. Her mother is actually Puerto Rican. It really makes no sense that she inherited Haitian roots from her mother side.
A lot speculation here.
This is sketchy…. really Pras is Haitian? Who knew. Lol
I`am half haitian too
thats what i say….lol
Blake Griffin tho… niiiiiiccceeeee
Why all the speculation though?? I'm confused.. Anyone can be Haitian and its actually a great honor to be linked to such a great strong people
If your parent's are Haitian….you are Haitian!
LoL
Whatever your father is that's who you are there's no mixing with god
Zoe is Latina and she tells everyone dis
I'm Haispanic:)
Haitians ppl are beautiful. 🙂

She is also of Haitian decent and recently stated this in a commercial.
So if I was born in an African country and son was born in Germany….that would make him german???? But in the zoo they call the lion, african…..Anways ! Maxwell is mix with delicious and sexy
No u r not…u r a latina
Then alot of black people are white. Because a good percentage of black people in the western hemisphere are born to white male slave owners.
Schella Vilme she Latino Ive seen plenty of interviews and she says she Latina
Schella Vilme Thats not true IM 30 and I went to Haiti once when I was 25 and they let me know I wasnt truly Haitain

Gladimir Gla Chrispin you can't go around letting people tell you who they think you are. You have to look at your heritage not anybody's opinion.
Schella Vilme Zoe Saldana never mentions he Haitian roots she only mentions her mother who inspired her in the L'Oreal commercial. Why don't you provide a link because I can't find a video where she claims a "supposed" Haitian ancestry.
