Criminal Minds season 9, episode 23: “Angels” airs tonight on CBS.

When the BAU is called to Texas to consult on the murders of prostitutes, evidence points to killings with religious overtones. But as they delve further into the investigation, the team could put their lives at risk.

“Criminal Minds” is based on an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. The Behavioral Analysis Unit’s most experienced agent is David Rossi, a founding member of the BAU, who returns to help the team solve new cases. The team is led by Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, a strong profiler who is able to gain people’s trust and unlock their secrets.

Other team members include Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau, Penelope Garcia, Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid and Special Agent Derek Morgan. Reid is a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high. Garcia is a computer wizard who helps research the cases. Jareau is the team’s confident unit liaison who was called to a top Pentagon job, but returns to the BAU under mysterious circumstances. Each individual provides his or her own area of knowledge while identifying predators’ reasons and determining their emotional stimulates in an attempt to stop them.

“Criminal Minds” season 9, episode 23 airs May 7 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS. Spoiler video below:
