Is It a Weave or Wig?
This question is a variation of “Is it real?” Although worded differently, it’s equally rude and annoying. Whether the answer is yes or no, many Black women have been asked this question by everyone, including other Black women.
“Is it a weave or wig?” is unique because this question can be communicated without the actual exchange of words between Black women.
During a conversation, a woman may simply stare at the hairline of the questionable coif, intent on looking for variations in hair texture or a possible lace-front line revealed.
