Legalization Of Medical Marijuana Has Led to Decreased Teen Use
There seems to be a link between the legalization of marijuana and decreased teen use. This is probably attributed to the fact that legalization also leads to regulation, and as black market channels decrease, teens have less access to marijuana.
Ten states had legalized medical marijuana by 2006; seven of those 10 passed the laws between 1999 and 2006, the years for which the teen-use data is available for all states.
Eight of the 10 states that had legalized medical marijuana by 2006 saw a decrease in teenage use of marijuana from 1999 to 2006.
