Kerry Washington debuted her growing baby bump at the 2014 Golden Globes on Sunday where the red carpet showcased several unconventional gowns and a sprinkler mishap left the ceremonial carpet drenched.
The “Scandal” star publicly confirmed her pregnancy when she hit the red carpet with her baby bump on full display.
Washington had no intentions of hiding her bun in the oven as she had done in the past. This time around, she showed off her pregnancy belly in a stunning white Balenciaga gown.
The floor-length dress featured a sexy plunging neckline with draped detailing on the sides that helped frame her new figure.
She kept the accessories to a minimum with a white clutch, matching sandals, small drop earrings and a thin diamond bracelet.
While she didn’t have her NFL husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, by her side, Kerry said she had the best date for the night.
“I feel like I have the best date of the night, my little accessory here,” she said as she motioned to her belly.
Kerry wasn’t the only star sporting a baby bump either.
Both Drew Berrymore and Olivia Wilde showed off their baby bumps as well.
Lupita Nyong’o, from “12 Years a Slave,” caught quite a bit of attention on the red carpet with a fitted red gown that showed off her athletic frame.
The dress also featured a draping cape that gave her overall look an incredibly elegant feel.
Paula Patton decided to take a fashion risk in a dramatic, white Stephanie Rolland gown.
The fitted dress was very minimalistic on one side while the other side featured an extremely large draped ruffle detail that extends all the way down the full length of the dress.
While the dress has already left a bad taste in the mouths of some fashion critics, Patton actually managed to still look stunning in the high fashion piece.
Former “106 & Park” host Rocsi Diaz was a red carpet let down, as she showed up in an ill-fitting, white and cream-colored Edie Parker gown.
Perhaps the biggest fashion shock of the night was provided by Emma Watson who fooled everyone with an ensemble that looked like a floor-length red gown from the front, but turned out to be a completely backless piece paired with leggings when she turned around.
The hidden-pants look earned Emma’s look the attention of many style blogs, who are giving the star mixed reviews.
In another interesting twist, the Golden Globes’ red carpet was soaked shortly before it was time for the stars to arrive for the ceremony.
Producers and staff members had to handle the mishap when a malfunction in a nearby sprinkler system flooded a portion of the red carpet.
Staff members rushed to cut up pieces of the drenched carpet and replace them with new, dry pieces.
The Golden Globes producer Dick Clark joked that he simply wanted to give the carpet a good wash before some of Hollywood’s biggest names showed up for the evening.
