Rocko’s Modern Life
Rocko’s Modern Life premiered on Nickelodeon in 1993 and was called “somewhat edgy” by critics. The show was filled with so much adult humor and sexual innuendo that there was enough to fill a 39-part list by College Humor. One incident included Rocko taking a job as a phone sex operator, saying “oh baby” several times to a caller who turns out to be his neighbor Ms. Bighead, who also happens to be a married cougar on the prowl.
Ren and Stimpy
Ren and Stimpy was by far the most controversial cartoon of the late 1980s and early ’90s. It starred a rage-filled Chihuahua named Ren and a functionally retarded cat named Stimpy. The show flaunted gross-out humor, implied homosexuality, sexual innuendos, profanity and brutal and imitable violence.
In the above episode, Ren has a wet dream and Stimpy helps him sort out his most inner thoughts and desires, which leads to cocaine and LSD.
