“Chicago PD” season 1, episode 1: “Stepping Stone” premieres Wednesday on NBC.

The show kicks off with the intelligence unit investigating a string of murders linked to a Colombian drug gang. After a slew of brutal slayings, District 21, led by Sgt. Hank Voight go after a Colombian drug cartel cleaning house in Chicago. They discover D’Anthony who proves to be an asset in the investigation. At District, complicated histories and unit rivalries surface which could end up costing them one of their own. Meanwhile, Rookie Kyle Ruzek is pulled from the police academy by Olinski to join the team.

District 21 is made up of two distinctly different groups: the uniformed cops who patrol the beat and go head-to-head with the city’s street crimes and the Intelligence Unit that combats the city’s major offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond. The vast responsibilities that these jobs entail extend far beyond the walls of the precinct, often taking an emotional toll on personal lives of these men and women.”
