Aaliyah
In 1989, 9-year-old Aaliyah Haughton made her appearance on Star Search with singer Gladys Knight. At age 14, she launched her first album, “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number.” It sold 3 million copies, which led to several TV shows and a starring role in the martial arts movie “Romeo Must Die.”
Countess Vaughn
In 1988, Countess Vaughn sang her way to stardom by becoming Star Search junior vocalist champion. From there her TV career was born. She went on to star in “227,” “Hanging with Mr. Cooper,” “Roc,” “Moesha” and “The Parkers.”
