People magazine may have given actor Idris Elba a silver medal for second place on their Sexiest Man Alive list, but Essence magazine gifted him with the gold.
Essence was so convinced Elba was the best choice that they listed 50 reasons why everyone should come to love the London-born actor.
According to the magazine:
“When Elba smiles, he dazzles. We’re seeing stars, moons and rainbows right about now.” Adding he is “a vision of sophistication and sexy.”
Elba may benefit from shuffling through the 50 reasons himself, after telling GQ magazine earlier this year that he doesn’t get what women find appealing.
‘The irony is I wake up every morning, look at myself in the mirror and think, ‘Woah, I look like a piece of s***”.’ You watch yourself age and it’s hard to feel like a sex symbol.”
He continued, “I’m not sure what it is they see, not to mention that, personally, I feel very awkward. There’s no way all those women would ever sleep with me and go, ‘I really liked him’. Some of them would go, ‘He was really boring or he was a bit aggressive or, urgh, actor.'”
