Paul Walker, the star of the “Fast and Furious” films, died after a fatal car accident on Saturday afternoon. After the news was confirmed, Tyrese, Ludacris and other co-stars have reacted via Twitter.
Walker was merely a passenger in the Porsche GT when the driver lost control of the vehicle in Los Angeles and collided with a tree. The sports car immediately went up in flames and by the time the fire was extinguished, Walker and the driver were already dead.
The name of the driver has not been released yet and it hasn’t been confirmed what caused the driver to lose control although investigators do believe speed was a serious factor in the accident.
While social media users were hoping the tragic news was a hoax, Walker’s reps used every means they could to inform his fans that this was not a hoax.
“Sadly I must confirm that Paul did pass away this afternoon in a car crash,” Walker’s rep told E! News.
Walker’s social media pages were also sending out the heartbreaking news.
“It is with a truly heavy heart that we much confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach out Worldwide,” one rep posted on Walker’s Facebook page. “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.”
The 40-year-old actor leaves behind one daughter, Meadow Walker.
News of anyone’s death is incredibly hard to handle, but it seemed like everyone in the movie business who had a chance to work with Walker found this loss exceptionally difficult.
Many stars earn a reputation for diva attitudes or outrageous scandals. Walker, on the other hand, had simply earned a reputation as one of Hollywood’s rare sweet hearts and kindred spirits.
“All of us at Universal are heartbroken,” a rep for Universal Pictures expressed in a statement. “Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected member of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the ‘Fast and Furious’ films, and to countless fans. We send out deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”
Tyrese took to Twitter where her revealed that the news was so hard for him to accept and that he still couldn’t believe it.
“My heart is hurting so bad no one can make my believe this is real,” he Tweeted. “Father God I pray that you send clarity over this cause I just don’t understand. My heart hurts it’s broken no one can convince me that this is real…. Prayer warriors please pray real hard for his only child, his daughter and family… #HeartOfAnAngel13YrsFamilyForeverWeJustCelebratedYour40thBirthday…. My God… My God… I can’t.”
“Takers” producer Will Packer sent out a Tweet as well stating that Walker was “one of the rare really truly good guys” out there and revealed that his heart was also aching.
“Your humble spirit was felt from the start, wherever you blessed your presence you always left a mark,” Ludacris Tweeted about his “Fast and Furious” co-star. “We were like brothers & our birthdays are only 1 day apart, now You will forever hold a place in all of our hearts @paulwalker legacy will live on forever R.I.P.”
The hashtag #RIPPaul began trending shortly after TMZ first broke the story last night.
Countless Instagram photos have also been posted in Walker’s memory as his fans, friends, family, and other industry co-workers try their best to cope with such a tragic loss.
